Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

'Tabs was on a good player but I thought he made some opportunities.' Longmuir from the post-match. It's an unusual comment. Maybe it's Longmuir's way of complimenting Taberner on a reasonable game. I'll be interested to see the coach's votes.
Did he comment on how, most conveniently for Freo, that the Dumps let Taberner scrag Balta's guernsey, push and shove him long before the ball got near them?
Rarely seen such blatant interference so blatantly ignored. Laughable in how obvious it was.

Just saw this and I haven’t seen this posted anywhere so apologies if it has.

Great result for all three boys on making the squad.

Recognition deserving.

All three should make the team too hopefully!

Balta was wearing a very big jumper a few times there, leon. No frees for. One against. Taberner would been instructed to scrag to keep our man on a leash. High compliments from Longmuir.

It is a test, but how well we support him to if we don't win the hard ball and enough clearance won't make a difference who you got there. We need to get a third man up to.

Yes, sure, but what role do the umpires have any more? Oval sculpture? Trainees for seeing eye dogs?

just a foreshadowing for when he plays on Hawkins I suspect. Spot the 'invisible' jumper holds and push-in-the-backs, eh?

I don't think Notorious is going to be content with just stopping his man as his career rolls on, (nor would you want him to be), we are already seeing him willing to run off his man to create play, he has overlapped countless times but not used as Shorty and Bachar doing the same, goes for his marks with spoiling a last resort and plays on quickly. In Rances entire career he was never used as a designated goal kicker from 65m out ;) .

Noah could turn out to be one of the most attacking FB/CHB's we have ever had?

That said don't expect him to be roaming too far from 'Tomahawk' tonight.

**A question for the history buffs, who was the most attacking full back in VFL/AFL history?

I'll go David Dench.

Rance. Silvagni. Langford. Shanahan.

I was worried the hype building up to this battle would have unsettled Balta, but I was wrong. I do think the whole defence working hard to double team Hawkins helped. When Noah finally got his 1-1 he stood firm.

The fact they moved Hawkins up the ground would have been a massive confidence boost for our boy.

Yeah our team defence was brilliant and that helped Noah, but notice how the only time Geelong looked half decent was with Ratugolea as the deepest forward? That's because Hawkins was having no joy on Noah and they had to move him up the ground to get into the game.

Re-sign him for 10 years. When Astbury comes back, we'll be keeping teams to soccer scores.

Like that he’s in the contest and then presents an option coming out of defence, what a potential talent

Another scalp.
1 goal.

But he had great help.
Keeps improving.

Balta 2nd ruck with dave back?? Thoughts?
Possibly.
Can we trust Chol?

Chemistry though and the confidence Balta has built playing back I do t know if I would do that.

Going to be some think tanking going on by the MC thinking about this same thing.

Or do they go Broad the forgotten man?
