Interesting post. Needs to want the ball more. And that's a sad comment to make as I think back to his first year in the system he wanted the ball.

You can improve your tank. See Watson, remember Justin Murphy, was a plump forward. As Vlaustonnis not that quick it is develop a tank or die. He has the contested ball tools and natural ability to make it as a mid with the tank. Get on with it or go home

This. Will never make it as a midfielder for that reason. Never had the tank, never racked up big numbers in the juniors either.

Why did we pick him? Why use our first pick on a back pocket?

The recruiting team ought to be hanged drawn and quartered

I said something similar to someone before the season started. I thought this was a big year for Vlastuin. Whilst he's a good defender, you don't really want to be giving your Top 10 picks for a good mid size defender, you can find them much later. You want your top 10 draft picks to really impact a game.

Thats the problem with our recruitment staff, we pick safe foot soliders rather than guys with x factor. Vlaustiun was only ever going to be a foot solider and never an a grade midfielder, which is something we are crying out for.

I said it draft day. It was a nothing pick,
Second rounder at best.
But then again we traded that to Carlton for Hampson.

Yep, someone needs to be held accountable. You just dont waste a top 10 pick on a foot solider, someone you pretty much know will never make the elite level. Might play 200 games for the club but will never be a match winner.

I wanted Grundy.

Watson may not be the best example.

No we didn't, wrong year, we got Vlastuin in 2012 and traded for Hampson in 2013.

Ah yes, Lennon was 2013.
I should get a job recruit at the tigers

Because Francis Jackson has NFI until he and Blair are replaced the club supporters will eat *smile*

Go and ask what a Collingwood supporter thinks if Grundy?
I would keep Vman any day. Good player surrounded by dip *smile* like Chaplin and Ashbury

He's been dimmarized

Lost all natural flair now and confidence. Was better in his first year
I've never seen him show any flair. He is a hard at it solid citizen, but flair and creativity are not his strong suits.

This guy averaged 16 disposals his first year, just over 15 disposals the next two and now 13 so far this year.

His career high in disposals was 25 against Melbourne in 2013.

He's not improving at all. He's as good as he's going to get I think. I know the draft wasn't great that year, but we may have Concarised it.

Agree, personally think we should be looking at him as our Nick Maxwell type in the backline (just a bit smaller). There isn;t much about him thats elite, he's quite a good kick out of the backline but doesn't use it much to start a scoring chain. What he needs to be elite in is organisation and leadership and be a big part of a very strong defensive unit. He was showing that last year, but this year has shown none of it IMO.

He did once against the Eagles in Perth, through the middle. Delivered, got it back, and goaled from 50, looked a star.
Change his role and freshen his mind, like a thoroughbred
