Tigger is similar to Corey Enright. Enright couldn't break into the cats midfield after being drafted as a midfielder but became one of the Cats key players by controlling the backline. I am happy with Flossy to stay where he is.

Yeah Chris Johnson was pretty important to Brisbane too.

Chris Johnson isnt a bad analog.

I'm cool with him staying in the backline. I'd just like to see Flossy get more pill.

We might all like that but, as a backman, his performance is heavily judged by how he curtails his opponent. That's Dimma's view strongly - happened to be speaking to someone who knows Floss and family very recently - and that's exactly what they told me. No surprise.

That said I'm pretty sure Dimma would also like him to get more ball if he can. He asked as much of Grimes to improve his offensive output.

It's no surprise to me to learn that Dimma is defensively motivated.

I don't see why Flossy can't be encouraged to be more creative in the vein of Pittard, Laird, Hodge etc.

Or, dare I say it, Rance.

But it's taken a few more years of experience for guys like Hodge and Rancey to know they can beat their man (even if it's BF in Alex's case) and run off them.

Think Pittard has copped flak for his man hurting the scoreboard at times when he has been busy being creative. Can't comment much on Laird but know he's good at it.

IOWs, Floss will do this more with growing confidence and hopefully Dimma will give him an occasional midfield run. I agree with you, he shows offensive flair, but your man not kicking a bag on you must come first (with Dimma!!).

Based on what I saw last night, has to stay in the backline mopping up. I thought he played well and help Rance and Grimes cover many holes that we seem to have in our backline.

One of our most consistent players. The type every team needs to be successful. Would love to see him in the middle but need his anticipation and cool head in the back line at the moment to cover for others.

I think his next move needs to be in the guts
He's hard and tuff doesn't panic
Exactly what we need
Maybe his motor the only thing stopping him
Next Captain for mine

love to see him getting runs in the guts.....with...grimes..rance..hunt....houli..chaplin..batchelor..yarran to cover backline he might get the chance

In 2015 I was continually bagging Vlastuin for stargazing. Obviously the coaches didn't see it my way. He finished, what, fourth in the B&F?

Still the guy stargazed too often for mine. I've never doubted that Vlastuin was gassed at the time but this was a bloke who lacked a tank. Naturally, he spent time deep in defence. So it has never occurred to me that Vlastuin was ready for significant midfield time. He was still mastering the journey on the HBF.

That said I think he's developing from a very satisfactory defender into a very good one. And when he works up the park he can get it and use it.

There is another thing. Richmond's backline lacks aerialists. Vlastuin gets air now. Waist high over packs. He's playing taller. And you know that joke about how Richmond defenders can't kill the ball? It's an under 10 skill - this bloke is one of the few we have who can do it. He's about to become structural.

But his fans for a midfield berth could not have helped but notice that on Thursday night he pantsed Wines, Boak and Robbie Gray on separate occasions. Far too good for them at ground level.

Rance is a *smile* god. He routinely beats two. Nick Vlastuin is moving up the order, playing with not dissimilar authority.

Didn't get any air against lowly Carlton last night. Played meek IMO.

Still has a few weeks to emerge as an adult.

Certainly forget the talk of a midfield role. He just lacks the tank; never blessed with stamina and may never develop.
