Nick Vlastuin

This bloke is a beauty.
2nd year has leadership written all over him.
Personally logical choice to take over from our current Captain.
 
I told my wife last year that I thought he was a future captain. He's a beauty.
 
Hardwick will try to make him a run with player knowing his messed up thinking.
 
Would be great to see Vlastuin make his way into the leadership group next year. I would even be tempted to elevate him to the role of vice-captain (but know Lids wouldn't be keen on that happening).
With a bit of luck, Vlastuin will be a Tiger champion.
 
Definitely looks like one of those guys who could take a massive leap after another pre-season if his body stays sound.
He reminds me so much of a young Jimmy Bartel who just went bang in his 3rd year and never looked back.

Promoting Cotchin to Captain was the worst idea out of Richmond in a long time. Doing it again to Nick would be criminal.
 
I need to pay more attention this guy obviously! I love him, and think he's very good, but I don't think I've seen the signs of him improving that dramatically. I could see him being a B+ - a grade midfielder (possibly). I love his desperation, and said in one of the earlier games, he was displaying more leadership than most of our leaders. I just haven't seen that elite talent yet. Glad so many think I'm gonna be horribly wrong - we need a good news story or two.

Yep I much prefer the thought of Nick developing without the added pressure and burden at the moment.

I asked my wife if she'd call me Richmonds Greatest Love Machine. She said no.

Nick has the rare combo of smarts, skill and kahunas.
 
Good to see him push up the ground a bit.

Solid player who has a good ceiling of potential.
 
Coming along very nicely. Next step is to get the ball 25 times a game on a regular basis.

I have no doubt that time will come as he continues to play more in the midfield.

Agree.
Yet another important football decision they got wrong.
 
How do you look into the future as to how a player will respond to being given captaincy? How could you tell? It wasn't a left field decision. Every supporter knew Cotch would be captain one day. Trent said he was ready, Newy was well over the hill.

Had the club picked someone else I bet everyone complaining Cotch being made skipper would be bemoaning right now that Trent should be captain. We all wanted Cotch to be captain at the time, but all the hindsight geniuses come out now and act like they knew better at the time.

It wasn't a wrong choice.
