Nick Vlastuin

Superb. Stepped up on the big stage. Sure hands, backed into packs and will play 200 games.

But from a list management standpoint, I still maintain Grundy was the pick.

Nick had a great game, but was torched by Judd in the first 10 minutes of the third term. On his own Judd was able to change the momentum of the game, and Nick was unable to match his intensity at the contest.
Mind you not many would have been able to. Judd is a genuine gun.

In retrospect that ten minute period is not necessarily a negative. Nick got a first hand glimpse at what at take to win finals, the effort, the intensity and willpower that needs to be not only matched, but bettered.

For mine Nick needs to spend the summer training with the mids. He should be training to play mainly outside with the odd run at the coalface. The next step in his development is to work on getting the easy ball, to work on his tank so he can get easily increase his posssesion count. Tiger fans would be very happy will the ball in his hands 20 plus times a game.

After a year or two playing outside he will naturally move to a inside role, its then we will really see how good he is. He will joiun Cotchin and Conca as our A grade inside mids, a trio that will be very difficult to match. Add a guy like Taylor Adams and it is the basis of a genuine A grade midfield that will play for a long time.

A pleasure to watch a 18 year old kid, so cool and calm in every situation.
He's 19 and a half.

Flossy killed Judd in the first half. Judd then went into the middle and was opposed to Tuck. He shredded Tuck.

I dont think so. It was Judd v Vlaustin at half forward for the beginning of the third quarter.

Check the replay.

I definitely saw Flossy play on Judd for a period when Judd was killing us in the 3rd.

I don’t mind that though, Flossy gets better for the experience.

No I don't mind it either. That was the point I was trying to make.

Yep, Judd started at half forward, got on a roll, went into the middle and Jackson went to him and got torched, then Judd actually went to full forward and Dlyan Grimes went onto him for about three minutes. It was about a 12 minute burst from Judd that burned us. He torched every body. Judd's best half of football for five years and Bryce Gibbs plays his best game ever.

Not quite true, it’s was Gibbs equal best game ever to go with his round 1 performance where he also torched us.

After the game I was almost in shock at how well Judd played coming back from injury. We got beaten by a champion.

hmm so juddy had 4 or more opponents in his 10 minute rampage.

Yep and then when he came back he played in the middle and Jackson had him.

Sunday should be the game that Juddy is remembered for. It was an aging warrior putting the team on his back and dragging them to victory.

One of the all time great finals efforts.

Yes it was. I remember him at West Coast some years back singlehandedly getting WC across the line against us at the G - we had hit the front - only 2-3 minutes left - they were on top or second on the ladder - massive upset brewing, we were near the bottom of the ladder & he kicked a goal to put them back in front & then sealed it with another. Saturday was a reminder of just how good he was. But lets not forget - sometimes the light burns bright before it fails. I doubt he will be able to do it again next year. He is an ageing warrior. Wonderful footballer who I think we WILL be able to contain with some up & comers in the future. I am over Sunday - we want the next Chris judd playing for us.

yep the kind of leadership i dream of at richmond. i hope our trip to brazil helps us achieve such heights.

it's interesting how everyone sees the same thing differently and all think they're right. personally don't think we showed judd the respect of a hard tag from any player and and it cost us big time.

I recall a game early in the Wallace period where we took it up to West Coast at the G and just fell short. Lids was outstanding - breakout game for him. Same game?

That will be an invaluable experience for young Vlossy playing on such a champion in such a big game.
Yeah the old warhorse got on top of him eventually but he'll have learned plenty watching Judd strut his stuff.

Judd beat Jacko in the 2nd half when he went to him but Jackson was clearly struggling with injury so he gets some cut some slack for that.
I don't think our day was helped one bit with injuries to Conca and Jackson.

Could well have been actually.
