Nick Vlastuin

That little dart into the pack, bend and pick up the ball cleanly, then run off with it on Saturday night was brilliant. Caught everyone's eye. Plays like he's been around for a long time, not 17 games.

any chance NV might get dropped this week? teams tend to prefer experience over kids in finals and vlossy has been a little quieter in recent times

I did think that, but Hardwick's going to have to love his hardness and he delivers the ball fairly well most times.

Would prefer the scenario whereby he does play and gets a chance to experience a final at age 18 or 19 - even if he didn't perform at his absolute best.
The benefit could be that the experience sets him up (hopefully!!!) for many more finals in the years to come.

I think Flossy has done enough to keep his spot. Unless you want to Mark Blake him

Not sure about quieter. Is up on uncontested possessions, effective disposals, 1%, total disposals and marks in his last 3 games compared to his season's average. People have been aksing him to be dropped throughout the whole season to give him a rest but he never is. I doubt there's any reason to drop him for the first final, he's keeping his end of the bargain nicely. He's the sort of player who would lap up the extra pressure of a final.

It's a very strong field, all of those guys should go on to have stellar careers.

I was lucky enough to score an invite to the Rising Star courtesy of a NAB contact. Good lunch although the announcement was anti climactic, O'Meara wasn't even in the room when they began announcing it, funny stuff watching the staff rush him into the room.

Vlossy was interviewed along with his mum on stage and came across pretty well if a bit nervous.

Highlight was Brendan McCartney's speech, listening to him you can see why he got a coaching gig even without playing at the top level. I hope he gets success with the dogs.

Best pick up since Ellis.
From being the worse drafting team in the comp, we have improved.
But our 2nd rounders are still vomit, too many miss's

Very good field. Result about right, Wish they would just make it BFYP like it used to be. Also, while O'Meara is a gun, Crouch too, and are FYPs they have the advantage of being in the pro environment for a year.

Great first season from Nick, tremendous.

Thought he and Wines were neck and neck.

On a different note, he kicked 9 goals, not bad for a back flanker, but I can only remember him missing one. Anybody know the stats on his set shot conversion? Have to be close to the most reliable set shot in the team and most from at least 40 out!

I think it's something like 5 from 6.
