Nick Vlastuin

make no mistake this kid can be potentiallbe the best recruit we have got in the last ten years , courage ,skill, hardness at the contest, the total package at only 19 years of age ,will be one of the Richmond greats.

When Hodge reverted to his default role of loose man in defence that left Flossy as ours and he did it far better.

cant remember too many who didn't. always looked like a good solid safe pick.

No, there was a grand final line of people on here that weren't to happy when we choose him.
I didn't say anything at that time because I missed the kids championships

Really? Not the way I remember it. We can always go back and have a look at who this grand final line of people were I suppose.

Edit: I just had a read of a few pages of the 'Rate Our Draft' thread and I struggled to find anyone who was unhappy with the Vlaustin pick.

For those old enough to remember, Vlastuin reminds me of Peter Welsh (who also wore #31) in build and playing style.
Welshy had a phenomenal finals series in 1980 (culminating in the premiership) after Tony Jewell plucked him out of the obscurity of the reserves on the eve of the finals.
Welsh's elevation to the senior team proved to be an astute selection, just as I am sure our current #31 will prove to be.

Woosha is I think the most famous tiger player to come out of Yinnar. His old man is still a neighbour, played a few games with Collingwood.

I get the comparison but with all due respect to the late Woosha Welsh I suspect Vlastuin will turn out to be a much better player. Woosha was a battler who had a fanatical attack on the ball, Vlastuin is more than that.

Yep, expect Nick to surpass Welsh. I didn't realise Welsh had passed away in 08. 79 games for Hawthorn and 46 games for Richmond.

I do believe Vlastuin will be a better player than Woosha in the long-run.
That said, I don't mind the comparison at this early stage in the young fella's career.

Plus, we can never forget that Woosha did win a premiership medal in his playing career and was one of the big contributors during the entire 1980s finals series.

One of very few who kept running and putting his body on the line when momentum was against us.

Needs a rest before finals. Was running on the spot at times today.
Tried to come off twice in the last to be turned away from the boundary. Still, he's a proper footballer this kid.

Vlastuin and Ellis are a big reason as to why we are in the 8 and will hopefully stay there for many years to come. More please Francis Jackson.

This!! Both are our future, love B's endeavour, and Flossy is gonna be all class.

Fast becoming a favourite, ton of courage n excellent vision. Rarely rushes his possessions and releases the ball and team mates into space instead of the dinky half metre give n go that half our players use that has them tripping over one another.
