Welshy had a phenomenal finals series in 1980 (culminating in the premiership) after Tony Jewell plucked him out of the obscurity of the reserves on the eve of the finals.
Welsh's elevation to the senior team proved to be an astute selection, just as I am sure our current #31 will prove to be.
I get the comparison but with all due respect to the late Woosha Welsh I suspect Vlastuin will turn out to be a much better player. Woosha was a battler who had a fanatical attack on the ball, Vlastuin is more than that.Bullarto Tiger said:For those old enough to remember, Vlastuin reminds me of Peter Welsh (who also wore #31) in build and playing style.

Tried to come off twice in the last to be turned away from the boundary. Still, he's a proper footballer this kid.BrisTiger24 said:Needs a rest before finals. Was running on the spot at times today.

Fast becoming a favourite, ton of courage n excellent vision. Rarely rushes his possessions and releases the ball and team mates into space instead of the dinky half metre give n go that half our players use that has them tripping over one another.Elmer said:Still, he's a proper footballer this kid.
