Re: A positive - Vlastuin?

The best thing about the game (apart from a much deserved win) was seeing vlastuin work the packs like a superstar.

Under fierce pressure, with players on his hammer, he stands up strongly, extends the arms, paddles the ball with exquisite control, traps the pill at exactly the right moment, then makes sure he finds a target in space.

Cotchin does that too.

Chimp, deledio, bull, conca, Ellis, foley, vlastuin.

The Magnificent Seven.

Perhaps all to play together against Adelaide.

All this in a 6ft 2in frame with a low centre of gravity and very strong frame!!!
Jagger who?
Ollie who?
This kid makes up for all past recruiting errors

Re: A positive - Vlastuin?

Melbourne supporters must be scratching their heads thinking WTF not another one to slip past us.

Yep! The kids there are entering the twilight Zone, they have no idea what will happen to them.

Happens to all clubs though. Someone lower down the choices ends up being great and someone high up the choices ends up being a dud...(lets hope its Toumpas ;D)

All very well said but gee Edwards gets ignored around here, prime reason again we got the break in the WA game - good first quarter - great leap and mark for goal 1 of quarter 2, magnificent hands for the give to vlas and quick follow up goal and we were away.

I think he is close to no 1 in the league for centre clearances per actual time in the centre square so maybe we actually have the electric, exciting, elegant, eclectic eight.

I wish opposition teams good luck though in combatting the A team of Cotchin, Martin, Deledio and Foley and then trying to match or curb the B team in Conca, Ellis, Edwards and Flossy.

How would Cotch's first six compare?
His first was pretty good, goaled against the Cats on a horrible wet cold day at the MCG and it was his first kick, too. He was coming off a limited pre season and getting back from injury, plus we had a crap coach, so I don't think we really saw the best of him that season. Flossy is a gun, I just love the way he goes about his football.

There's some serious core future in that bunch. Axle and Lids are the only truly mature players in the bunch n Lids would still have half a dozen seasons in the tank.
Would love a truly explosive wing/half forward plus an elite ruckman to cap things off.

We will see if they can soon enough lamb shanks....all should be raring to go against Adelaide.

Our 6-0 streak after the bye depends on it. 8-

Re: A positive - Vlastuin?

one week at a time people. Looks promising but lets not get ahead of the game... we played well, won away and defeated a team that has already lost 4 home games,,, 5 had they not won after the siren against north.

Lets knock off the crows first, Dogs and Saints both can have their up days. We have no reason to be complacent against any team in the comp. Already talking of NOT testing anyone for the Cairns "home" game against the Suns.

Its Richmond, we can go from world beaters to beating up ourselves in no time.

Re: A positive - Vlastuin?

I love his no fuss approach to everything he does on field. Kicks a ripper goal, doesn't carry on. Gets his head taken off, doesn't appeal for a free, just keeps going. He's selfless, his only objective is getting the footy and using it to benefit the team.
