NFL & NCAA Football Threads

Mizzou still looking good. Looks like going to win today's game against Tennessee.

Go Tigers!

Should rise a bit in the rankings but watch out for the killer Arkansas Razorbacks next week. They unexpectedly shutout both LSU and Ole Miss in the last 2 weeks.

Peyton's getting old and Eli's a bit on the over-rated side I must say. Romo...meh.

Who's your NFL team JAM?

Geez....Ole Miss got shut out by Arkansas 30-0......dropping down the ranks now.

I like Romo's toughness. He's a competitor, always had a soft spot for the cowboys although they aren't my team. Loved the razzle dazzle of the 90's, loved the fact a guy played as a cornerback and as a wide receiver and played major league baseball in the off season.

If I follow anyone it's the packers. A big fan of Rodgers. If they stay healthy (which they weren't last year) they are so good offensively they are hard to beat.

I love watching Luck, he's a genius. If he gets a good offensive line he may break all the records.

I also love watching Cam Newton, he's a freak athlete with a cannon arm. So many contrasting qb's at the moment.

Have the NFL subscription so watch plenty of games both live and replayed, it's simply an awesome game with amazing athletes.

Yeah Cam's pretty good. Gets sacked a bit too much but with a better offensive team around him, he'd be higher in the ranks.

Looks like it's between the Packers and Detroit for the divisional playoff spot.

NFL and NCAA games are all great to watch. Just too short a season for me.

I would love to have gone to college in US simply for the football/basketball. Haven't watched much NCAA, followed the mountaineers for a while when they had a kid called Noel Devine (reckon he has the most incredible youtube videos of any underage sports kid I've ever seen). Always hoped he'd get drafted to the NFL but his size killed him. Only 5'8 and 180lb. Could bench press over 400lbs though.

I would've loved to go to a US college too. I had a chance at 16 years of age with a cuz who lives in NJ and works at Rutgers, but......

It's a difficult league to get into. At least it's good watching some Aussie kids and ex-football (union, league and AFL) players join in, albeit, mostly as punters or kickers.

What do you think of Hayne's chances? I'll be surprised if he does ok, not enough raw speed I think. Good evasively and tough enough but he's not even the fastest league player. Reckon he'll lack the speed to make it.

Zero. Go for your dream but think with the head a bit. His best chance is to join a college team or the Arena Football League for the NFL scouts to watch.

As you said, he's good evasively which is good for a WR or RB, but I doubt he'd make it, even if he had speed. Probably more chance for a big boy like Jesse Williams as a defensive tackle for Seattle and previously Alabama.

Steelers have improved dramatically over the last 5 weeks.

Is it genuine improvement or a plastering over of cracks?

I think their offense has genuinely improved, Martavis Bryant breaking out has helped immensely.

Having said that they barely beat a woeful Titans team, a mediocre Houston team and lost to the Jets who stink.

The wins against Baltimore and Indy were impressive, but I think Luck's brilliance has caused people to overrate the Colts somewhat. The Colts division is unbelievably weak as well, I think they're well behind the Pats and Broncos.

I still think my Ravens are the deeper team despite a patchwork secondary, and have an easier schedule the rest of the way but both sides are very inconsistent.

Ravens snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (tiges style) allowing 21 points to Rivers and the Chargers in the 4th quarter. Couple of questionable PI calls, but our secondary is absolute garbage and is an obvious Achilles heel.

Really need to beat the Dolphins away next week, to ensure we have the tie breaker over them. Next 3 are against Jaguars, Texans and Browns are all very winnable.

Lots of close games this week. Next 4 are all winnable games for Ravens but the Bengals have that tied game advantage.

AFC North is all average, but after another Steelers loss at home (albeit New Orleans aren't an easy side), it looks like a battle between Bengals and Ravens for divisional playoff spot.

I think the one consolation us AFC North fans can cling to is both the Chargers and Chiefs have a brutal stretch to end the season.

Chargers: Pats, Broncos, 49ers, Chiefs
Chiefs: Cardinals, Raiders (could be the difference maker), Steelers, Chargers

Dolphins have an interesting schedule as well, play the Jets twice but also have to play the Pats, Ravens and a much improved Vikings outfit under Mike Zimmer. Going to go down to the wire.

Yep, this must be the first season in a long time without any outstanding team leading the W-L ratio. Open slather.

As for your defense, get rid of that annoying Suggs.... ;D

If we could trade Suggs for Revis with our OLB depth (Dumervil, Upshaw, McPhee) I'd think about it!

We need an overhaul of our defence too with Polamalu, Taylor and even Keisel getting on with age.

Besides the pass interference call, what the hell was Elam doing in that last play? Royal just stooged him with that dummy move and scored a TD.

Elam has been one of the biggest 1st round draft busts for Newsome and the Ravens ever. Just has no instincts or feel for the game, which is baffling because he was always around the ball at Florida. He walked right into Keenan Allen's block on that TD screen.

Jimmy Smith was probably the one player (Flacco aside) we could least afford to lose and it's costing us big time. The bigger problem is our defensive coordinator doesn't compensate for the lack of talent in the secondary by using our defensive line and outside linebackers to blitz and wreak havoc and force the QB to make silly decisions. Painfully vanilla on defense, hoping we can entice Rex Ryan back.

The way the NY Jets are travelling, I reckon Rex Ryan would ponder returning before he gets sacked, or maybe Reverend Ray would like to take on a defensive coach spot. ;D

Woohoo SEC championship game for the Tigers

I love Ray, but his bible bashing bluster needs to be kept to half time analysis for CBS or NBC or whoever is paying him these days. :hihi

I could barely understand a word he said last week. ;D

Good last quarter and win to Mizzou. Big game against Bama next week.
