NFL & NCAA Football Threads

Re: NFL 2012-13

Oh well there goes another season.

16 games in NFL and 12 games in College Football are way too short for a season IMO.

Re: NFL 2012-13

What a flogging. I'm not looking forward to hearing about the twelfth man for many months.

Yep, guess so.

Th bookies had the Broncos as firm favs too.
Yeah just goes to show there's a lot more mug punters around than experts.... Me included, I backed Denver too...

Re: NFL 2012-13

Just noticed that Sav Rocca's been delisted by the Washington Redskins which opens a new door for Griffo if he fails. ;D

Geez some harsh comments on Sav by those Yanks....

Re: NFL 2012-13

2014 NFL draw just released and for the Steelers ......eeeeeeeeeeeeeeasy. No Pats, Packers, 49ers, Giants, Broncos. All weak/average teams with maybe the Colts and Saints being the hardest.

Must win at least 12 games. Here comes the 7th title. ;D

Re: NFL 2012-13

NFL DRAFT on now jeez the crowd not backward in voicing their displeasure at the picks clubs make talk about putting pressure on the young blokes .

Re: NFL 2012-13

Johny MR FOOTBALL Manziel not in the top 10 awkward moments with the camera on him after each pick he slips down the order .

I'm not too surprised. He showed pace and agility as a QB with the Aggies, but I'm afraid his height is a worry for NFL clubs.

Re: NFL 2012-13

Good pick Steelers. He's from the Buckeyes.....but they're not all show-offs. ;D

Ryan Shazier = speeeeeeed!!

Re: NFL 2012-13

Timmons and Shazier are gonna eat him up

Shazier was an interesting pick for the Steelers, I was hoping they would trade down seeing as this is mean't to be a deep draft (especially at CB and WR, 2 needs for the Steelers)

Will be interesting to see who we get in the 2nd, Nix, Hageman, Tuitt on the D-line, Desir, both Gaines, Baptist, Watkins as CB's, a crap load of WR's, Attaochu, Crichton among others at OLB (although Shazier can play inside or outside)

BTW only just found this thread, could have been talking NFL and Steelers this whole time
Great to see another City of Champions fan TF :fing32

There's only one Yellow & Black in the NFL....and that's the Steelers. ;D

We desperately need a cornerback and unfortunately Dennard and Roby have been taken already in the 1st round. I'd rather not take Desir as he's from the lower divisions. Stick to the Div 1 - FBS teams. Lamarcus Joyner from the Seminoles (2013 BCS Champions) would be next best IMO.

We do need a corner but you don't pass on higher rated players for a position of need, I really liked Fuller as he showed that he can play zone, and had all round skills, I was a little concerned with Dennard (and I am a big Michigan State fan) not so much with his speed (although that is a bit of a concern) but more with his physical play and the flags he might draw in the NFL
Roby just scares me, both with his play and the off field indiscretions, Joyner I haven't really thought of as I see him in the slot (Gay has been good their and Sharknado can line up there too) and we need a no. 1/2 corner (too bad we let Lewis go last year)
Colvin might be a good pick up later (knee injury) as he has good zone skills and our CB prolly won't be playing much next year anyways, prolly would have a 2nd/3rd round grade without the knee

I like Nix as it will mean McLendon can be moved to end but with sub packages being used more I think a guy like Tuitt or Hageman might be better as they can play both end and tackle, only problem is both have had inconsistency issues this year
Also the way steelers utilise the DE position, mainly occupying blockers, all draftees need to be retaught the steelers way and as such maybe a lower round guy (like Mauro, Hart or Coleman) might do just as well, it's taken Heyward 3-4 years to get established on the D-line and he was a 1st rounder (and is now a pending free agent)

Will be interesting, bring on rounds 2-3

Yeah we need to build the old Steel Curtain again but it all depends on what the club's needs are. This is why I don't tangle my mind on the juniors available for the AFL draft as some on here do. Too many kids with potential to choose from, and more than one need (attack, mid, defence). Geez.....which one do you go for??

Dennard might be a bit 'spuddish' with his faults, but maybe at a higher level he could fix those a bit. I've noticed some mock drafts mentioning Joyner could be good at safety as Polamalu's too injury prone and should retire (why did we give him another 2 years??), and Gay's getting on a bit too. As I said too many kids to choose. At least they take 3 days compared to our 1 day, as it gives them more time to assess the remainders.

Re: NFL 2012-13

Like 'Johnny Football' we will get front row seats to see how Dennard goes, playing the Bungles twice every year

Love the draft whether it be AFL, NFL, NBA (not surprising being a Tiges supporter :hihi )

Hey don't speak about Sissynati like that... :hihi Easy draw for us, and as long as Big Ben doesn't become injury prone, the 7th title's in our hands.

Manziel's got the 1 guernsey .....geez who would've guessed? ;D

Haven't had a hard look at the draw yet, as long as we start better than last year we should be a show for playoffs and once your in anything can happen

Of course Johnny got the no.1 guernsey ::)
can't wait to wipe the stains twice this season
