NBA 2011

Losing a quality player liking James for next to nothing plays a role........but is not the sole reason.

1. Anyone who thinks having a core of 6-2 shooting guards, Hickson, Varejao and 34-year-old Jamison would be a smart thing to work with moving forward is delusional.

Again, how is that Gilbert's fault? That's the basketball operations people. And the core group went 61-21 & 66-16 the year before. In 2010 they were 2-1 ahead of Boston before the Delonte West/Lebron mum affair become public. Again it is a rumour but people within the Cavs were aware of the relationship and no one told Lebron. LBJ finds out and boom. The Cavs lose the next three and Lebron is gone. The roster was solid, sure they made some wrong moves but it was much better then what Lebron dragged them to the finals in 2006-07. Look at the Lebron doco from high school, he treats his team as family and once that bond is broken it cannot be repaired.

2. Gilbert assumed James would re-sign with the Cav's,
That James would prefer to play with Mo Williams over Dwayne Wade. :help
Gilbert's ego led him to believe that the team that James (and Danny Ferry and Mike Brown) left behind would be worth anything on its own.

No way. Lebron grew up in Akron, Ohio. The Cavs thought the power of home would be enough hoping that along with 2010 championship that would be enough to make him stay. That didn't happen and the strategy was in trouble. The rumours were swirling after the 2008 Beijing olympics that Wade, Lebron, Bosh and CP3 had made a pact to get to the same team. So not much Gilbert can do about that. And Miami were into Lebron way before June 1. This deal was in the pipeline long before. Pat Riely and Micky Arison had this covered. No doubt the Heat outplayed the Cavs off the court. But again, not all Gilberts fault.

3. I know he was extremely mad at Lebron and still is,
But why in the world did he say that his Cav's will get a Championship ring before James at Miami?!? :rofl
No one should be guaranteeing rings period.

This was silly. But once Lebron left he had nothing to lose.

No way you can lay all the blame at Gilberts feet, some but not all.

One of the great coaching stints in NBA history has just ended in Jerry Sloan resigning from the Utah Jazz. Probably had the greatest one/two combination in Stockton and Malone. 26 seasons he lasted, not bad. It's the Celts V Lakers today, go Celts, Ray Allen trying to break Reggie Miller's 3 pointers made record.
Such a great run as a coach as well. Yes, he was fortunate to have Stockton and Malone but he always gave the impression of a good coach and a gentleman.

Bulls disposed of the Spurs pretty easily by 10 points. Rose dropped a career high 42 points on them. They dominated them on the boards (42-29), this was without Noah too. He's back next week. Big threat this team.

Rose is flying. Second best player in the NBA behind Lebron.

So quick, such a good passer.

If the Bulls can a get a great shooter for the playoff run they will be a big chance to push both the C's and The Heatles.

James is probably the most talented player in the NBA, But he's no where near the best player.
Not even top 5 in my book.

WHAT????????????? FIVE BETTER? WHO?

That book isn't worth reading.

What are you smoking Jukes? :hihi

Had a bit on Rookies today. Their roster was very good with the likes of Griffin, Cousins, Wall, etc. Evans out hurt the Sophomores. They were 3.90 for the win.

How about the East's starting lineup for tomorrow? I'll be on them for a bit to make watching it a bit more interesting.

PG: Rose
SG: Wade
SF: James
PF: Stoudmire
C: Howard

Nearly best player in every position in the NBA. That's crazy. Only one debatable is probably Amare, if he's not currently the best performing PF he's top 3. Some other value I see is DeRozan for dunk contest @ 5.75 (Dude has some crazy dunks and came close last year. Griffin is more of an in game power dunker but will probably win because it's a popularity contest more than anything) and James Jones for 3 point shootout @ 4.50 or Wright @ 5.00.

Only if you can't read ;D

Until he performs in big games, he's a pretender.
In playoff's he's laughable....Even in regular tight season games against quality teams he chokes.
I look forward to him continuing this trend during the playoffs.

I'd put Kobe, Wade and Durant ahead of him at least.

Dunk contest was pretty good, Griffins last dunk "over the car" was pretty average....didn't deserve a 10.
But it was creative I suppose.

The skills challenge looked tough....glad to see my boy Steph Curry get the job done.

Have to agree with jukes here .......

Watching LeBron in the series v the green last year was almost embaressing for him. He was expected to take all the big shots and he just kept on missing.

Lucky for him he now has a closer like Wade beside him (I think this is the reason for the heat move).

I'd add to the list of Kobe(as much as I hate him), Wade and Durant - Rose, Paul and Howard.

Really you'd call LeBron a flat track bully - when things are going well he's flying, when they get tough he tightens right up and not in a good way. :help

Oh my god, I can't believe you pulled out the points per game stat :rofl
He was the only scorer on the team.
Give me FG %, FT% <<<especially 4th Quarter and Turnovers.

Good to see, someone can see things from my point of view.
I agree, put Rose, Paul and Howard to that list too.

East lost. Committed too many turnovers and West played more like a team. Still think they had more talent though in the starting 5, was very close in the end with a massive comeback led by Lebron. Good watching. At least James Jones won the 3 point contest for me. On Dunk Contest thought it was pretty good. Thought Serge and Javal were a bit hard done by. Their dunks were insane. Griffin's jump over the car (low end of car only, I could probably do that) was an average dunk and more showmanship. His other dunks were okay but not as good as the others I thought. Was always probably going to win though. Rigged with fan votes/popularity and him jumping over the KIA car (NBA sponsor :hihi).

On Melo deal that just happened....

n the deal, Denver will receive Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks' 2014 first-round pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.

The Knicks will also get Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman in the deal.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/2011-02-21-carmelo-anthony-traded_N.htm

Knicks certainly sold the farm on that. Not so sure they made the right call. Denver did very well IMO in the best of a bad situation.

So Knicks team:

Billups
Fields
Anthony
Stoudemire
Turiaf

IMO decent/good teams that play defence spank that team easily this year and in the future. That team gives up 110 PPG. How long does Billups go on for? Also their bench just got even thinner. Only Douglas + a bunch of scrubs now. No depth. They need a BIG FA signing in the near future and some other good moves down the track to make this platform trade worthwhile giving away the core of their team. Whether they can do that or not is another question.

Was always gonna happen, Glad he didn't go to the Lakers though.....that was getting close.

The Nugs roster ain't done yet, word is Lawson is the only player they’re 100% sure of keeping.
Good deal for the Nugs....they would be happy with that.

any chance of cp3?

Wow, big trade there... is it just me or are a higher percentage of trades more complicated these days?

Full rebuild for the Nuggs and the Nicks closer to being contenders, at the least Anthony's move will get more bums on seats for them.

Interesting stuff indeed.
