If you believe some around here all thats needed is another pre-season and Cogs will be the same player he was.

People also choose to ignore the fact that he has been back playing footy for 14 months.

Wouldn't they all.

Unlikely as it is, the only chance he has would be at a third club who might pick him up in the PSD.

Unfortunately I agree with many of the previous posters that he should pull the pin.

Not sure if many will doubt his need to be retired now

A shade of his former self

Always intrigues me - this shadow of former self stuff.

Of course the broken leg was tragic because browny was in carreer best form and in his primne footballing life so it was expected he would get even better in 2005/6/7. However prior to the broken leg Browny averaged 18.4 possessions and 1.59 goals a game. Since he has averaged 17.3 possessions and 1.67 goals a game. He has lost that bit of pace and dynamism but he is 30 plus also.
Fact is that the game has changed and Brown was never a good chaser, it just is more important now. I think Browny will be moved on simply because he is not in the premiership window and we will save some bucks moving him on. Dont discount his trade value for a Swans/Geelong or even Hawks or Saints or Blues to top up their list with a class finsher.

He doesn't have the speed or the dash that allowed him to tear games apart in the past.

He still has skills, but is too slow now IMO

Swans would be nuts not to wait for him in the PSD if they wanted him

If Richmond are SERIOUS about wanting to REBUILD and start WINNING, then Brown has to go. His time is up, he's lost the pace and form he had before he broke his leg, he's just not up to it.

The only TWO over 30's that should play in 2010, are Richo and Cuz, no one else, even though Brown may want to go on, he should be told in the next week or two that his time is up. RFC should do it this week, to give him time to "retire".

PA LEEEZE. Knighta was still Richmond's best player when he was pushed.
A shocking analogy.
Why would Knighta have been pushed if he was our best player ?
He was pushed because his ego was too big to accept that he had been a liability to the side for 2 seasons unless he was given the pill on a silver platter.
He was a fantastic player for us but time had caught up with him.

Watching Brown chasing Shaw at full tilt down the wing, was embarrassing for Nafe. Well past his best, plays for himself and not the team and wont be on our list next season.

It'll be sad to see him go, he's probably at the wrong club at the wrong time. He doesn't quite fit into our lineup anymore, which is a shame. I've go so many Browny memories, wish him well if he does get de-listed/retired.

Brown's injury will not improve with time or training. Next year he will be slower than this year. It was courageous for him to come back. Like Polak, the club has done the right thing, but it is time for them both to go.
It would be ridiculous to retire Bowden, then keep these two. Brown is holding out because if Rawlings gets the job, he might get the nod for another year. I'm quite sure we need a coach who will be resilient and resistant to the club interest groups. Rawlings has done as he was told this year...it was why he got the job. Now is the time for a cultural change.

He's saying the right things and thinking the right things. But the body is failing him.

The new coach will be announced in 10 days - just in time to have a round 22 send off for a few I would think.

A shocking analogy.

Knights is arguably Richmond's best player of the past 20 years, but in his last season he was getting caught with the ball & missing targets - so unlike him. Tried as a last resort at half forward and as a tagger. The decision was correct but the way the club handled it wasn't.

Was definitely his time but being forced to retire Round 17 (ironically against Essendon) was a bit rich. Very shabbily treated.

No worries Spud. You are still guessing. Name 5 better players at the time? In my opinion, if he wasn't the best, he was still top 5.
The original point is, do not compare him to n Brown - chalk and cheese.
