Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

The worst news is that it's on the same right leg as previous. :(

A reminder of his previous achillies issues..

Didn't know he had an other right leg Tooheys.
If Axle has a spare other right leg there shouldn't be a problem, just tuck the bung one out the way and carry on regardless.

Extremely disappointing. Hopefully good for longer term list development, and we still could snag a finals spot if a lot goes well, but extremely disappointing.

I'm starting to worry for Arnot. Poor kid hasn't played a single AFL game but some are already calling for him to be included so he can carry us to the finals now that Foley is out.

Its the Richmond way.

Gourdis is gone, Griffiths is finally playing so we need another white knight. Enter the biscuit.

;D

Makes the critical games against Essendon and Carlton much harder.

Feel the same. Since he went out injured we have lost that zip.

That's why we need to get games into as many of the kids as we may uncover some gems.

Conca showed to me that he is a midfielder not a Blackman or forward Just type!

Get games into Conca ,Ellis, O"Hanlon , Webberley , Hellbig and play Deleido and put the acid on him to deliver. With Martin coming back in a weeks time gives us a chance to find out about some of the players mentioned above.

Hope Axel isn't a Free or Draga type curse. Put him in cotton wool and get him ready for 2013.

Good luck and a speedy recovery for next year.

Deleido has been in the midfield all year and has been one of our best.

Absolutely terrible news for Nathan. Get yourself right and give it another crack next year.

As others have noted, good teams take this in their stride and if we can't then it just highlights our lack of depth.

If we have the right structures and game plan in place then we should be able to cover with players like Nahas contributing further up the ground and providing some outside run and Newman taking a turn in the middle. The good teams not only have depth (up and coming mids playing in the reserves), they also have small forwards and backs that can take a turn in the middle.

Our injury list is not that bad compared to clubs like Collingwood, West Coast and Essendon.

Feel for Nathan, he has not had much luck. I also worry whether with this type injury and at his age whether he'll be able to come back with the same pace. Hopefully not another great player lost to injury, we have certainly had our share of those.

The positive of this situation will be the chance for several of the young guys to get more time in the midfield. I think Conca is the one that should given the most time and see if he can play a midfield role. In longer term I think both Conca and Ellis need to be able to rotate through the midfield and be damaging players when they do. Cotch, Martin and Lids provide the cream but we need more workhorses that are good enough to cause damage too (Tuck and Foley I think have both done this well this year). I reckon we should also be targetting another high quaility mid in the draft this year.

Am hearing that Newman (hand), Nahas (ankle) and Morris (shoulder) could all be in doubt this week...anyone heard anything similar? Don't mean to set off alarm bells but was told this today but a guy who doesn't spin and is usually close to the money on these things...

If true and they all miss (which I doubt), the $5.50 on offer for GC looks juicy. They get Swallow back after getting 3-4 of the senior players back last week like Rischitelli, Harbrow, Stanley...This week will be their strongest team they have fielded all year. We are no certainties peeps...not even close IMO. :(

Bloody hell. Seriously Newie? :help

Surely it's Newman's time to be a midfielder.

There's always been talk of it but it's never eventuated. We have plenty of small-to-mid backs, and now we need some class in the middle.
Don't think he's got the talent. Good spare man in Defence but no Judd, Black, Ricciuto, Bell, Harvey, Voss, Hird, Buckley, etc...

.

I mean newy is a great mark and kick so his deficiency must be elsewhere: pace, core strength, engine perhaps?
