Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

For the first time since his injuries I felt like we saw the old Foley back this weekend. He had a couple of clangers but some of those runs out of the centre with those little legs pumping were vintage Foley.
He has had a couple of decent games where he has accumulated possessions but this was different because he is starting to back himself again. Confidence in the body I guess.

Love Foley but he has the same limitations as Nahas, Edwards, King, Jackson, Tuck, Miller and too many others that when he breaks a line, crosses 50 and has a ping you expect him to miss. Went close a couple of times again on the weekend but still missed, he’d average about 1/5? Difference between him being a B grader and not top-line.

Kicked almost the same number of goals per match as Judd last year and I wouldn't class Judd as a B-grader. No doubt Foley's strength isn't pinging goals from 50 out but I don't expect that from him, we have the Deledio's and Martin's who are very apt at doing that. Foley has shown A-grade quality in the past, he looks to be warming up to that again. Will be a huge bonus if he can consistently find his old form before his horror run with injury.

Looking at Foley's stats again, it was an impressive game. 28 possessions, 10 inside 50s 8 tackles and 5 bounces. He took the game on and that's what Foley has in the past made a name for himself doing. Interestingly he only had 6 contested possessions. Deledio also only had 4 contested possessions out of his 27. Maybe the Tigers are finally realising that you need to get the ball to your best runners so that they can break the lines, not have them inside on the ground getting the contested ball.

Yeah he played well again. He was our best today.

He was decent to good but mate stop running around in circles or backwards handballing to people under the pump. He does this too much. Move the ball forward.

Yep played really well today. His contested possessions and ball carrying through the lines was good to watch today. Has found a bit of form.

With both Foley and Grigg improving (well with Axel it's just back to his best before he got injured) it makes the midfield harder and harder to match up on. I love seeing Foley back.

Axel was back to his best, anyone who labels him a B grader is obviously expecting to see 10 Scott Pendleburys running around the park.

Loved his run and contested work today though some of his skill execution was average.
Good to see him back near his ball winning best in a tough contest

Great game today and very good last week too. Playing better than Martin and Lids at the moment.

Martin agree. Lids? Averaging about 28 touches and a goal a game. What more do you want?

Lids was very good today I thought, in the first half particularly. Foley was solid.
