Just wondering how Nathan Foley is tracking this pre-season? How did he look at training today. I’m assuming no news is good news. I’m still hoping he can reclaim is best 2009 form. If he can he might even be better as he won’t cop a tag. If Foley has a good season then we are another step closer to making the finals this year.

Looks to be running really well and goes about his bussiness nicely. i sort of get distracted by martin, cotchin, deledio, reiwoldt and vickery when i go to training atm. There just soo good to watch

Great to read. So far all good.

With so much focus on the youngsters, surprisingly there hasn't been much discussion re Axe's game against the Hawks.
However to me, he looked like he might be getting back to the Foley of old, after returning from serious ankle/achilles injuries in 2011.
Looks fit and is finding the ball again. If he gets back to near his former form we are going to have a pretty formidable midfield.
Fingers crossed that the wheel has genuinely turned for him.

fingers, legs, toes, arms, eyes, whatever it takes. Foley back to his best, wow, what a thought with Lids, Cotch, Dusty. Is it just me or is that starting to look threatening?

Starting to look better, just need more
Depth and to fix the rest of the field.

I really hope that Foley will be back to his best this year, another full preseason under his belt isn't going to hurt.

I still reckon we need Conca and Ellis to develop into A grade midfielders too, then we would truely be a force. Lids, Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Conca and Ellis - could be a premiership winning midfield there.

Not a huge amount wrong with the front half of the field checkers. Back half still needs a bit of tweaking but that will be covered to some degree with a more dominant midfield.

Massive game (and year) for Foley. Last year was back to school and can he complete the year? If he plays big it will go a long way to determining the result

Foley is the key for me for tonight's game. His clearance work will be crucial as guys like Lids and Martin will benefit greatly from his work. He is a clearance king when he is going. All the focus will be on our big three- Martin, Cotchin, Delidio... so Foley has a great opportunity of being the key man for us.

Agree, I think the Foley/Maric combination in the preseason was the best example of a true ruck/rover combination I have seen in years at the Tigers. They really seemed to have a special understanding. I am hoping to see some of those Maric tap outs going straight to Foley while he sprints out of the middle for a long bomb on goal.

Also agree with this.

If Conca Edwards Nahas A Maric Ellis can step up will go along way to us playing finals with so much attention on Deledio Martin Cotchin these guys & Foley can hurt teams also Grigg!

There have been a few signs Foley is getting back to his best this pre-season. His trademark of bursting out of a pack and having a couple of bounces appears to be coming back to him. Hopefully we see a lot more of that this year, it's great to watch.

Foley

Has gone under the radar, his kicking is a huge problem, bubble kicks or tumblers that don't hit targets.
Yesterday he ran out of the backline with jolly chasing him, didn't increase the distance with his so called speed and ended up kicking it sidewards.
Has he lost his pace?
Is he yesterday's hero??

Re: Foley

I think he's lost half a yard. Not a top liner, but a very good handy player still

this isnt the titanic, gee people jump off quick
finished the game with a broken nose, hopefully doesnt miss

A real under the radar type for mine. Doesn't get the headlines with the talent of his younger team mates on show, but we could do with a few more like him.

I think Axel is a very realistic chance to be a future captain of the club.

Re: Foley

A bit hard to influence a game when you have a box of Kleenex tissues stuffed up your nose.
