Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Nathan Foley

I believe that Nathan Foley is out of contract come the end of 2012. I believe that he is a vital cog in our midfield.Any news on re-signing him or contact negotiations?

Another fine game from Axe on the weekend. Despite not getting high numbers word is he was given the task of nullifying Boak and would seem to have done that effectively.
His form this year has been really pleasing, just continues to fly under the radar and get the job done.

He's a bit like the Chad Fletcher/Nigel Lappin equivalent of our midfield, isn't he? Just gets forgotten about when the opposition focus on the Martin/Cotchin/Deledio mids, just like they did with Judd/Cousins/Kerr and Voss/Black/Akermanis

A quiet achiever who gives 1000% week in week out. Happy for Nathan to fly under the radar and get the results he does for us.

Thought he was bog, faded later....but did the damage early.

was special early, his clearance work and run and carry (even late) is so valuable

We've been cursed by long-term injuries to key players over the years. Some forgot what a menacing player Foley was before injury. Last year some wrote him off when he really needed time to find the pace of the game again. This year he's moved on from where he left off, he's been absolutley magnificent. Our a-grade midfield of Deledio, Foley, Cotchin and Martin is going to be one of the best if not the best going around. We can already see when opposition teams hard tag one of these players, one of the others steps up to the plate. This is the key to winning in the midfield.

His first half was phenomenal, and when they tightened up on him, the others stepped up. The club is developing a really powerful midfield, and it's reaping the benefits of having a quality ruckman in big Eeevan.

Was great in the 1st. I just love the way he goes about it.

I missed the game and only watched a replay of the first quarter last night.

Foley looked sensational in that first quarter. He is an excellent compliment to our other midfielders, really adds some spark.

So important, we have our big 3 midfielders, but Foley gives another dimension to the on-ball brigade.

The question was asked recently on his contract but don't think he's signed yet for next year is he? Hopefully he stays a Tiger.
I hope this doesnt drag out. He is a vital part of our midfield. We cant afford to lose anyone now that we are starting to build a decent squad.
