Nathan (Axel) Foley [MERGED]

Yep. Great game. The moment he game on he started to have an impact for Victoria. Only had 64% game time too. If he had of been in the starting 18 and given more game time, he might have been a chance for BOG.

He heh, And you said he'd never make it.

Fair enough. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and that's good.

So lets have a beer on it then. I'll say that Foley won't play anymore than 20 senior games - if he even gets a senior game at all - and won't be part of the senior list 2 to 3 years down the track.

It was a pretty bad call Red :hihi

Just in case you all missed in the Gold posts thread, Redford also posted this gem

Don't get fooled with Foley Harry Butler. Sure he can get a lot of the footy in the traffic - something I like - but he's got nowhere near the skill level, speed nor physical development in him to make it at senior level. Sometimes he struggles to kick it 40m !!! He's a classic reserves player in my opinion.

Another thing. He's got chronic knee problems. After every game, his knee blows up and requires draining etc. The medical staff are a bit concerned about it being such a young age and are constantly having to wrap him in cotton wool throughout the week.

Haaaaargh, I can't stop laughing. :hihi

Nathan Foley (41)
Enhanced his reputation with a fine showing in the midfield after starting on the bench. Had four inside 50s in the first term and finished with six for the match. Was Victoria's equal leading ball-winner at half time, before finishing with 21 touches. Also chipped in with a goal.

It was great to see him playing in good side. Reminded me of when teh Flea used to dominate State games, what a pleasure it must have been for foley to be surrounded by class. if he played for Geelong he would get rave reveiws ever week. he is a gun.

Unlike JB0dumb and his littany of errors over the years, with nearly 12,000 highly insightful and articulate posts, I can handle getting one wrong.

Grant Thomas spoke highly of Foley yesterday but like Hudson said something like "didn't look out of place". Tools the lot of them. And BTW claw did you watch the VFL game on saturday - Cotchin was great in the middle and roved very well. Also Coughlan had about 50% game time for 10 possessions some of which were in and under vintage coughlan. The future looks very bright.

Thanks Bowdo...get voting PREnders. ;)

My Hawk supporting son watched the game in a bar in China. People of several nationalities were extremely impressed with Nathan's efforts in the game. From the glowing reports they'd all vote for him if they saw the poll.

Absolute Gun

Absolute Star

What more do you want me to say about Axel? :hihi

Nathan Foley is a calssic example of why you need the Big V every two-three years. Three is about right.

Playing in that group, running around amongst that talent will be worth 40 normal games. I like what Robbo said about him on SEN today, "that he is fearless with the footy". Intresting to read what Bomber Thompson said in the paper to him, althoough Robbo clarifeid that it went along the lines of "suprised your here? well don't be, your tough and you get your own footy". Pumped him up in front of the group.

You just cannot measure what that is worth. Although after his exhibts Saturday night don't expect Bomber to let him break lines on Saturday arrvo. Cameron Ling will go to him. Good test for Axel. Best midfield of the comp and he is flying and has a bit of PR about him at the minute. We may learn a lot this week.

Yep. Got that one wrong. (Suppose there's a first time for everything.)

Heh heh heh..... you still owe me those beers red.

But to be fair, Redford does get it right more times than not.
