Who is going to step up and help him out?

Who have we got?... At the moment.. ready to go

If Foley gets tagged week in week out, who is there to alleviate the pressure. Cut him out, it will really dry up supply.

Based on the hype from last week I would have to say Brett Deledio >:D

Certainly was less effective towards the ned of the season and hasn't set the world on fire so far this year either.
You've heard the catchcry No Foley - No Richmond...
Desperately need some added class in the middle because at the moment we are a one man show.
yep foley has struggled big time so far this yr.i said last yr he struggled in the last half dozen games it cost him a band f. looking at the last half dozen games of last yr where axle struggled where he copped very heavy tags this was expected. yet no proviso has been made to help this kid out. rabble.

Tend to agree. We are in desperate need of some more effective (and quick) ballgetters as Foley is our one and only. He can expect another heavy tag from Collingwood after what he did to them last year. Geez, I like him. Just hope we can commit to helping him out a bit more. Perhaps take note - messrs Deledio and Tambling.

Agree. He was a certainty until about R16.

Axel's a little guy and young. No reason to break him by sending him on kamikaze missions in a hopeless midfield. Wallet has got plenty right with Foley. And one of the best things he's doing is getting him to play more outside. Rounds his game out (and hasn't it come on?) and protects him.

And the logical thing to do, as we did in 07, to give Foley cover for clearances is to send Tuck in with the job of sledge-hammering - this is not great footy, a bit predictable, but it takes heat off Foley. But we're not doing it this year because we're looking to get Tuck out of the middle so we can develop a new crop of mids. And so we can round Tuck out a bit and give him some chance of finishing a season in one piece but hey, Sugar was out for R2.

We've only had Sugar for one game and he was setting up good blocks which are designed to get the smaller mids free. That's one thing we do to give Foley cover inside.

And we've used Raines and Newman around the packs to set him to space. Shire, we've even put Bowden around the packs, desperately trying to get some mass near the stoppages.

Bling has been given inside mid duties and that is not helping Foley at all- for now. But if we can develop Bling into a dangerous inside mid it takes huge amounts of pressure off Foley longer term. So we play Bling inside and we get Foley to space or off the park.

We are coddling Foley as best we can and rightly. Particularly at this stage of the season. I'd like to see him spend more time mopping at half back. If it's good enough for Bartel to spend so much time hiding from injury there it's good enough for Foley. And Boomer Harvey hid three years there before he went ape in 07.

What nonsense is this about his last 6 weeks being poor ???

The last 6 games he managed 27, 20, 21 disposals, 3 Brownlow votes and a career high 35 possies.

He had TWO poor games (Round 17 and Round 22) so I think he was better than you give him credit for.

Unless your expectations are so high for him that when he gets 21 possies, a goal, and 5 tackles you say he played poor ;D

I think relative to the first 16 games it was poor, but was still very servicable. In the first 16 games he was in the elite level, but dropped off slightly in the last half dozen or so (I can't recall exactly when this was so it may have been only 3 or 4 games). The good thing about this drop off however is that the team as a whole played better in those last few weeks.

Looking at his stats he had 3 "poor" games for the season (16 possies or less), 5 "average" games for the season (19-21 possies) and everything else was 23/24+

He usually had 26-31 possies or 19, so when he's having a good game - he has a bloody good one, and when he's not, he is held all day.

Rarely got 22-26 possies which is rare, you'd expect someone with an ave. of 24 to be in there more often. This means he was either very good (often) or dropped well below his ave.

From this we can draw that Foley was slightly inconsistent, probably played 3 excellent games a month then 1 average one.

Mike Sheahan warned us THE AXE was sharpening this week ;)

Ambiguous is as near as he gets to right, benny. ;D A dill.

And Foley is something. Reminds me more of a skillful running young Scott West very game. Will not be beaten.

Set the win up and got the ball when it mattered did Axel.

Had five goal assists at half time, the all time record is 8. Had breakaway pace from the contest that quite simply blew the Dockers away.

Nathan is the bees knees when it comes to preparation and doing everything right off the ground.

The common ground we PRE's have .. that Axel is a star. Even Richo polarises opinion. The one thing we all seem to agree upon is that Willy T is the most promising KPD we have had in some time and that the Axe is simply a gun.
