Nankervis !!

Dimma said he was very disappointed at the stoppages. Meaning our mid fielders needed to put in more when Grigg was rucking. Must improve in this area.

Still need the 2nd ruck to be creating a contest though , don't hang onto one arm & give away stupid frees & must jump, I know it's not Grigg's fault he is thrown in against giants, not an easy job

1st & last quarters I thought Nank beat Grundy, 2nd & 3rd Grundy was outstanding. I know Nank had a lot of time on the pine in those Quarters, but gee Grundy was good.

Having said that, I'm loving what Nank gives us, he may not win a lot of ruck contests but his around the ground stuff is sensational. Not many other ruckmen provide the "grunt" that he does. Check out the blocking, shepherding, quick handballs, tackling, contested marks in the backline & forward line to see how valuable he is to us.
He's one of the best recruits we've had in the last 4 years.

Dimma said in his post-game, “this game is messy by nature”, or something to that effect. A ruck contest would have to be the messiest and least controllable contest in the game. When Nank rests, we don’t even need to be competitive, just avoid literally giving them a freebie clearance (infringement/grab and kick) and that’s enough for us to win the battle. We gain an extra elite runner as compensation for this small price to pay.

As soon as that ball hits the deck it’s a 50/50 contested ball, so I would expect the stats to show that whatever clearance numbers occur at this point are largely independent of the preceding ruck contest, with a few specific exceptions possibly.

Exactly 123.

it is a concern of mine ( and some of us ) I would love to know what score(s) goals, points, OOB on the full , sides take when Nank is off compared to when he is on the ground and Grigg & co ruck ( or don't take the ruck )?

Be interested to know this stat from our gurus season 2017 compared to 2018?

How does it stack up?

Nankervis is our most important player.

We kept the Pies at bay for a period in the 2Q and a larger portion of the 3Q but the Pies couldn't take full advantage of this ( considering our 3 Q ) have been our worse.

Strategy paid off in the last.
Rested Nank was instrumental in our dominance and the last as Grundy was pretty much cooked from doing his outmost in the 2/3 Q to supply his midfield with first use but it wasn't enough.

Against the Cats it might be a different story even factoring that the Holy Trinity can be front one way runners. They to me appear more dangerous than the Pies.

Nank also makes up for his lack of size and plays as an extra mid once the ball hits the ground.

He will need a chop out or rest before finals even though there is a week off before they begin. Will be a strategic and management of his TOG % over the remaining rounds.

Footy Classified. My God. Haven’t watched it for a while and have just been reminded why. Lloyd is an imbecile. Judd is a smarmy *smile*. Hutchy is fat. Looks like Humpty Dumpty.

Anyway Hymie just completely dissed Nank. Said he was worried about him because he was nowhere the class of Grundy and Gawn. To their credit Caro and Hutchy were incredulous about it but at the same time fawned over how great Grundy was on Saturday. No mention of how he disappeared when the heat was cranked right up in the last quarter or how influential Nank was in that quarter. No mention of how Nank flogged him first time we played them.

Shithouse show.

Lloyd said he was looking for chinks in Richmond's armour - and Nank may be the chink.
Fair dinkum if that's the case we are looking pretty good

Nankervis might not be Simon madden but his grunt work around the ground and when helps down back is unbelievable.
He is super fit too.

Lloyd The Count is still hoping his astute observation that we were laughing and enjoying ourselves after a JLT match will mean we go the way of the dogs.

Nankervis our biggest problem?? Go re watch the 2017 Grand Final when nankervis dominated the so called best ruckman in the game from that year too. He is all heart and these other blokes would wet their beds on the big stage against him - just like Jacobs did.

Additionally this not having a second ruck issue is becoming laughable. Why is it such a big issue? We just won the premiership and are sitting a game and % on top of the ladder right now playing with one ruck. The club has openly said time and time again that in today’s game they don’t value the hit outs and clearances as some might. We value the extra runner playing. Grundy and Gawn are both great players - but reality is even with their dominance when we have played them, we have still flogged both of their sides Last year and this year.

Maybe there is something in that.

Correct. They are all scratching their heads as to how and why we run over teams, have heard it all week. But they never factor in this extra runner. Only time they bring that up is to say it is a problem..
Experts hey...?

This just goes to illustrate that the commentators like the Count have no clue on how our game works. Grundy gained a whole 60 meters with his possessions. Nana torched him with effectiveness. In fact the whole pies team had a handball meters gained of -11 meters against ours of almost 500m.

I was stunned when I heard that stat, where do those stats come from? Is that a consistent number and where we smash the opposition each week?

Not just the extra runner from not playing a second ruck either. Not playing a second tall forward also assists on that front with more small forwards rotating through the midfield.

Not having a second ruck only becomes a problem if something happens to our first ruck..............

Champion data stats. Yes we are by far the highest metres gained by hand team in the league. Averaging around 500m per week and the next closest is I think the Pies at about 250m (except for last week of course). We took one of their strengths off them.
