Nank copped his annual Anzac colonoscopy. His man was BOG. Was anyone worse than Nank?

Nanks was blocked. Was setup to spoil. Was just one of those things. That goal line mark by Gawn was simply unacceptable. The game shifted after that (aided by outrageous umpiring granted).
All Nank had to do was be the 2nd man up spoil. But Nup. He just let Gawn clunk it and sold Vlastuin out in the process.
If I’m Yze I’m telling Nank I expect better than that from my captain in an ANZAC game.
Nanks last 2 games against Gawn were 2022 and 2021 and Nanks competed very well. Even this game Nanks managed the same effective disposals. Yes of course he's going to lose ruck contests to Gawn but to suggest that pinch hitter Naismith would have been a better choice, seriously. We're clutching at straws. Playing Nanks and Naismith together is a mistake. Bring Ryan in. He's young, he's the potential future, and we need to see if he's going to make it.Of course Naismith should have played first ruck. Did we pander to the skipper's ego?
Nank has been fantastic for us and is only absolutely destroyed a few times a year. There's only one Gawn. And one Witts. And one Grundy.
Nank got to the contest. He missed the ball. It was poor.Nanks was blocked. Was setup to spoil. Was just one of those things.
Effective disposals is a meaningless stat, quadrupally so for ruckmen. Nank's direct opponent was BOG. Nank was arguably WOG. Naismith is tall and an accomplished ruck, he can nullify Gawn in ways that Nank can't.Nanks last 2 games against Gawn were 2022 and 2021 and Nanks competed very well. Nah. Wasn’t being blocked at all. Sounds like you’re relying on Richo’s moronic commentary - in which he contradicted himself anyway by saying “Yze wouldn’t be happy with that”. And neither should he be.N

Sorry I have to disagree with a lot of what you're saying. For me Gawn's worth is what he does around the ground. Effective disposals are not worthless. Tap outs are over-rated as they're rarely to advantage. It's no coincidence that many premierships of late have been won by teams with only average ruckmen.Nank got to the contest. He missed the ball. It was poor.

On Samson. We need to get him to play the way he needs to as a ruck. You can develop blokes in the twos as well. We don't 'need to see if he's going to make it'. We know he's going to make it, if he plays the way we're trying to teach him to. We want him to dominate the VFL. Because we want him to learn how to dominate. Because we want him to be a dominant player. We've already seen him hold his own for a half against Gawn and Grundy. We don't want him to think 'holding his own' is good enough. Not when he can be dominant. Go forth and dominate, young man.
Yes he was blocked, watch the replay. His run was impeded and momentarily paused his momentum and ability to jump which prevented him from quite getting there. Clear as day. Your photos miss the initial block where small players run in from Nanks left to right.Nah. Wasn’t being blocked at all. And the look on Nank’s face afterwards said it all too. He knew he had to be better there.

No he wasn’t. And I’ve watched it 5 times over thanks.Yes he was blocked, watch the replay. I didn't hear Rico's moronic comment and why would I rely on what they say?
That's fine you have your opinion. For me he was clearly blocked, I know how inertia works. Maybe in hindsight he should have been closer to Gawn but you can't always predict how the ball will swing and who ends up in front of you. I just don't get why people pick on a single incident in a game to hang a player. Nanks made a couple of silly mistakes in the last but overall was very clean throughout the game. Yes he was beaten overall by Gawn but who realistically expected Nanks to win the day? In my eyes Nanks epitomises the premiership years, uncompromising and hard at it and make your opponent hurt. Some seem to take every opportunity to bag him (not saying you) and I'm unsure why. Have to remember game rule changes are trying to edge tough players like Nanks out of the game. It's not easy to change how you play from an aggression point of view.No he wasn’t. And I’ve watched it 5 times over thanks.
If that’s a block, and using such as an excuse, you're operating at a pretty low standard. That’s just a standard marking situation. We might as well pack it up and finish last if that’s gonna be tolerated. Miller has JVR tied up, Vlaustin has Gawn, Nank is free, and Nank fails to get a simple second man up up spoil on Gawn. Look at all the space and time Nank has. Unacceptable.
Play the replay on slow mo and you’ll see the ball is a mile away from being marked while Nank is free and he simply doesn’t get it done.
Nowhere near good enough.
I’m a Nank fan and always have been. And I don’t really care about him being towelled up by Gawn. That’s happened to plenty of players. But that particular incident last night was really poor from our captain and it happened at an important moment in the game - when we were under the pump a bit but still right in it. Everyone’s head seemed to drop after that - including Nank. Certainly everyone sitting around me was disappointed too. And simple second man up spoils don’t really require much aggression either. Sorry, that’s a cop out as well. That's fine you have your opinion. For me he was clearly blocked, I know how inertia works.
