McLachlan. ..... G.O.N.E.

If Benny does get the job, who could we see stepping into Benny’s job at Richmond?
my vote would be for Dan Jackson.

Jeepers Dan Jackson?

Other than being Peggy's date to grand finals, Jackson has had no exposure to the complexities of running a successful club.

Replacing Benny will be effectively impossible TBH

His background and track record of success is pretty much unprecedented in AFL circles

A unicorn

This idea seems to be based upon when Demetriou said the only person currently playing AFL who could do his job was Jacko. Which was nice kudos but doesn't mean he actually is capable of it (or interested)

Eddie and Jeff would be more the President / Chairman types rather than the day to day operations CEO types

@Baloo sad “Eddie and Jeff would be more the President / Chairman types rather than the day to day operations CEO types”

Neither could run a chook raffle these days. Time for the AFL to look ahead not backwards.

I definitely wasn't suggesting they could do it, more that their egos would only allow them to be a President / Chairman

Less their egos, and more their ability to be a CEO. Neither have the brains for it, particularly Eddie.

Reckon Jackson would be a million miles from being ready to run an 80 Million dollar a year sporting organisation like Richmond.

He is currently the leadership development Mgr at Adelaide reporting into the football mgr. Pretty much a cut down version of what Shane McCurry does for us
(Culture, Leadership & Organisational Development).

That is the type of role Dan would be suited for.

Low financial acumen needed for that role and would be a quantum jump up an org chart to be the CEO of Richmond where it is key.

We'd be aiming a lot higher than Dan ILO.
Good to see he’s still a whipping boy.

If anyone was listening to Wheatley last night he explained exactly how this is going to work.

It was actually extraordinary how nonchalant he was in revealing the plan

Everyone should know he is after ALL the AFL's mouthpiece on AFL strategy

Wheatley explained, The bloke ( Auld or Dillon ) within AFL house they put front and square in the media as project managing these big deals, Tassie, AFL rights, Club funding allocations, will be get Gills job, Wheatley said, Benny will respectfully bow out of the race to appease the clubs. This is exactly what happened when the reigns were handed over from Demetriou to Gil 9 years ago, the playbook has been written.

This has all been decided already

The AFL has a script, just like WCW.

Clearly this is great news for us, this is because losing Benny and Peggy in a short time frame would be a big hit to the RFC
I agree with you Niko on Whately being somewhat a mouthpiece. And I didn't watch it (I cant stand the show and dont watch any of them or listen), but can exactly see in my mind's eye, the Nonchalance you are referring to. Because that's how he has always spoken over the years on so many things when he knows he has nailed the AFL thinking. I believe you totally about how he would have come across. He's getting even more arrogant these last few years too.

But I'm not sure I agree it's either A or D. It is 100% not Benny for sure. I'd cut off my limbs if it was Benny, I am that certain he wont be.

Dillon is too quiet for the job so Auld is more the natural successor. But it may *smile* off too many. Internally, it wouldn't be great either. Neither are the 'natural' successor Gil was over his decade supporting the fraud, Demetriou.

And I reckon the commission knows there'll be even more aggro with the clubs etc if it is an automatic internal bloke again. They may surprise and I am picking an outsider to the AFL. Just not Benny.

I'm hoping Brendon doesn't sully his reputation by even 'going through the process' again.
IIRC he's said of the previous time he knew McLachlan had the job, but was asked by a member(s) of the commission to throw his hat in the ring.

Did he do that to assist the league in portraying a pseudo, rigorous selection process or for the experience?
Regardless of his reasons, I hope that same person(s) is still on the commission and has the decency to give him the early mail..... don't bother!

Or just not turn up for the interview.
