McLachlan. ..... G.O.N.E.

So there definitely is some cold war happening with these pricks.

Gale : Did you bring in the rule to curtail our performance? Show me the data as to why you brought in the rule and your engagement with stakeholders.

AFL : Stand! (Or else)

Gale : you corrupt $$()!s

The media say its about how RFC behaved in 2020 up in QLD - the whole Brooke Cotchin stuff, the Sydney Stack/CCJ stuff etc.
That wouldnt have helped Benny.

But its way more than that - the reason Benny is the choice of the Clubs is the exact same reason the AFL doesn't want him. Ditto Brian Cook of the past.

However, I personally dont think Benny also has the commercial hard nose edge that Gil has - and they'd be looking for that.

Personally, I hope Benny doesn't apply as I can't see him getting on the short, short list of the last 2-3.

No idea who will be next, but let's hope they get it right.

Further Bob, from what I hear, the club - meaning Gale, Hardwick and Balme - have challenged the AFL hard in respect of how we are umpired. (Balme especially has butted heads with Hocking on numerous occasions. Think there’s some bad blood there from Balme’s old Geelong days and when Hocking turned up on the scene, I think.)

But there’s numerous items and issues that the club has had with the AFL, and Gale obviously has been involved in those.

Caroline Wilson has referred to a tenuous relationship between Richmond and the AFL a few times now the last few years. Given its Wilson, take it for what it’s worth, but anyway.

There is plenty I don’t like about the AFL atm.

However one thing you have to give Gill is that being able to have the 2020 and 2021 seasons at all, especially 2020, was a great effort.

It all depends on internal AFL politics as we all know it is an old boys club full of some form of nepotism so don't expect anything that is in all the clubs interests. Mind you we can hope

Zips, they arent media. They are the minions.

The only one who knows anything about how the afl thinks and works - and is prepared to say something - is Caro. And Mick Warner (what's happened to Mick BTW?). Mick said 2 years ago on 3AW the afl would never want Benny. I remember watching that fraud, Andrew Demetriou on Footy Classified a year or so ago. Embarassing. He couldnt even acknowledge benny when pressed by Eddie.

Eddie and Caro pretend Benny is a genuine candidate (they both know he is not) b/c they love to see the washout of this stirring of the pot.

Everyone else in the media is a sycophant. They are too scared to challenge anything. Its so obvious.

Let's hope the AFL can get a decent leader after almost 20 years of corrupt CEOs.

I'm not so sure about that..... if my memory serves me correct, it was Balmey who encouraged Hocking to become his protégé at the cats.
When he got the gig at the AFL I reckon Neil probably had the *smile* because the boy obviously never listened to anything he was taught.

Well, given his recent blasting of the stand rule and the “idiot” who came up with it, I’m not so sure about their status with each other.

Balme himself has referred to a frustrated club asking several times for answers from the AFL on umpiring matters, which I presume must have involved Hocking at some stage or another.

Ita been happening ever since Caro and co announced Benny would be the next AFL CEO. Gilligan and his corrupt mates have been doing everything possible to undermine since. Leaking the things going on in our hub was a classic example.

I really hope they appoint a good one to replace Gil The game desperately needs it.
Agreed.

As much as fun as it is to stick the knife in and and have a laugh, at the end of the day we desperately need a leader who loves OUR game.

And as corny as it sounds, we have one of the most pure, physical and skilfull games in the world.

Let's protect it.

Incredible really.

West Coast can let illicit drugs destroy numerous players, Essendon can take it upon themselves to inject it for their players, Collingwood and Hawthorn can have major racist issues dragged out into the open…..

We have two players go out for a kebab and the skippers wife go out for a spa, none of which was against the law, just the AFL’s rules, and it apparently means our CEO is on the outer with AFL HQ

'Those in the know' keep saying that what RFC got up to in QLD pissed off the AFL and contributed to Benny being 'on the nose' with them.

I wouldnt know of course.

And I agree with you Streak. Which is why it was a cracker when we read how the AFL/Gil himself asked Xavier Campbell to join the AFL. The guy who was Bombers COO during the drug stuff. Clearly he wasnt on the nose. That's why it wasnt Qld happenings in 2020 that have put Benny on the outer. They never wanted him in the 1st place. What happened in QLD allows the minions and AFL to use that as a reason for 'murkiness' with Benny. He isn't in their clique. Benny hasnt even been given any of the major 'war time' cabinet roles when they bring a handful of ppl together for the big challenges.

If not Auld (and he ain't that popular in clubland), my money is on either the 'radical' woman choice of Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Bulldogs preso who understands media big time having run the Walt Disney company Aus/Nz arm.
Or 2 smoky CEOs: Tom Harley or Justin Reeves (if you can work with Jeff Kennett and Clarko... just saying).
I've always rated Ameet Bains, WB CEO but he's a little like Benny - too principled for the AFL.
