McLachlan and Hocking must resign!

Richard Goyder Chairman 2011
Gillon McLachlan Chief Executive Officer 2014
Paul Bassat Commissioner 2011
Kim Williams Commissioner 2014
Major General Simone Wilkie Commissioner 2015
Jason Ball Commissioner 2015
Andrew Newbold Commissioner 2016
Gabrielle Trainor Commissioner 2016
Robin Bishop Commissioner 2017

Don't know much about the above but these people are on the commission and could ruin our sport if they sign off on these proposed changes.

Watch them kill the marking contest as well. My guess is it will be almost impossible to use your body strength to prevent an easy mark without giving away free kick!

Dorkley also said they want to roll back rules to have as few as possible. Even mentioned hands in the back will go. They have no fkn idea what they are doing.

I just sent this email to [email protected]

Dear AFL Commissioners
As a 56 year old who has watched and loved our great game all my life I appeal to you to reject the current changes proposed for the game, especially the proposed 18 m goal 'square' and the 6-6-6 starting positions. The game is a great spectacle and does not need these ridiculous changes to improve it as a spectacle.

The only changes that will assist our game as a spectacle is to get rid of the rule that requires teams to nominate a ruckman at ball-up contests. This nonsensical rule slows the game down and actually increases congestion. If umpires were instructed to throw the ball up as quickly as possible teams would need to respond more quickly and less congestion would result.

The other rules that need to be 'clarified' are the' holding the ball' and 'incorrect disposal rules'. If umpires, coaches and players were given greater clarity around the interpretation of these rules I am sure it would result in better umpiring and greater flow of pay. Fans understand that our game is a hard, fast and often difficult game for umpires to always adjudicate correctly, but having fewer inconsistencies in umpiring decisions will help improve it as a spectacle.

I am a paid Richmond member and have seen my team go through many years of failure. We are now a top team and I find it extremely unreasonable that the "rule makers" all of a sudden want to change the game when Richmond is playing its best football. I am not a conspiracist but this is a little too coincidental.

I appeal to your common sense to leave our great game alone and allow it to evolve naturally by the teams that are most innovative and creative. Allow the best teams to lead the way - do not force them down a path of conformity to reactive, unnecessary knee-jerk actions from the game's hierarchy.

Please confirm that the AFL Commission has received my email.

Well done I like your style.

They showed some examples on 360 of congestion - the new rules would have absolutely no affect on the examples they showed. Whateley is as conflicted as Eddie these days.

Cannot stand the rule changes, and cannot stand even more the current elitist pompous hierarchy.

Saying that, these rule changes are going to have absolute minimal effect next year.

Don't stress folks, at least not for 2019.

Agree. Kermit and slobbo were disgraceful tonight , had to turn off. Trying to justify their pathetic exaggerations about the state of the game earlier in the year. You’d think they were 14 yr olds with attention spans of goldfish the way they complained about the game. The beauty of the game is it’s variation and randomness. Shootouts and slugfests are what makes the game great. Homogenising it will ruin it.

Thin end of the wedge. Genie out of the bottle. Etc.

Yup, weird examples. All were congestion during stoppages, while trying to explain the 6-6-6 (appropriately named?) rule. It can't possibly affect stoppages. No explanation of how the changed square really changes anything. Stupid changes.

Not sure who should Ve on the Commission but I don't think glad the game is in such good hands when I see this list. Corporate hacks aplenty.

The media silence is amazing. Look at the Herald Sun website today, not a mention of these possible changes. Everyone is too vested to risk speaking up. Its a disgrace.

Look at Facebook though, the AFL page, currently 700 comments on the post regarding the rule changes and not one person is for it. Same thing every time the AFL has posted about the possible changes.

It's clear as day that these current AFL employee$ couldn't give a stuff what the fans think. :-\

Quite simply Broadca$ters want more goal$ & hence more Ad$.

Gil & $Hocking will be hoping to give themselves a nice pay rise from the next rights deal.

Only one way to hit them where it hurts & that's their bottom line.
Hopefully we win another flag beforehand but if these changes get through my interest will wane.

I would love to know what percentage teams kicking out actually go long. And even with the extra meterage when teams kick long most of the time is to the boundary so the congestion will just be 10 metres further from goal

PC World letting the AFL know. Like it. Media pfft. don't want to bite the hand that feeds it.

Only rule I can understand is the 6-6-6 at ball ups, it might help in the first 5secs after bounce to get a kick out long to a "possible" 1 on 1 contest. that's all
Also don't mind keeping the runners off the field. In last year's GF against Adel runner stayed on for a long time coaching on the field. Was a disgrace.

Personally believe reducing the number of interchange down further will help as it will open up games as players tire

Perfect summary. This is basically what the whole rule change is about.
Australia in 2018 is 100% run by old white men interested in lining their pockets and nothing beyond that.
