McLachlan and Hocking must resign!

Never underestimate the power of collective voice. Individually we but one voice in the wilderness but collectively our voices can make a difference.
Fans need to use the forums available to them to voice their disapproval to these changes.
Ranting on a fan form is good for venting but doesn't produce change. If we all wrote to the AFL with our disapproval, the volume of "noise" has to be heard.
The question of whether it will be listened to is a different matter, but we must try our voice first.

Yup, weird examples. All were congestion during stoppages, while trying to explain the 6-6-6 (appropriately named?) rule. It can't possibly affect stoppages. No explanation of how the changed square really changes anything. Stupid changes.

Theres a reason why they didn't comment on the goal square and that's because it achieves nothing. The thought pattern is "you can kick further out of your 50", but all it will do is push the defensive line back about 5-10m, nothing more. They think teams will like kicking longer but the area of the ground it will create more space in is the same D50 where the kick in comes from, so will likely just increase the amount of kicks that go short. It will then make it more difficult to actually exist D50. Its really dumb IMO.

The 6-6-6 probably won't affect the game much at all either. I actually think these changes will have very little impact on the game positively or negatively, so comes down to a very simple line, whats the point?

I suggest that fans write to the AFL Commission stating their position on these ridiculous changes. Perhaps if enough fans make a noise they might reject the proposed changes.

This was my two bobs worth, spam the flogs:

Hi, following up from your delusional recommendation to once again change something to reduce congestion around the ball.

To be clear, the reason you are collective bunch of morons is because you do not realise you started the current problem by increasing the interchange rotation amounts. The solution is to reduce them to under 20 per match which will lead to fatigue which will lead to more space being created because players will be DOING LESS TWO WAY RUNNING up and down the ground.

As a Tigers supporters it is great to go to every MCG match we play.

I am currently advocating for all supporters to not attend the first match next season as a protest to your fascist decision making (you don’t give a stuff about us).

You are a joke of an organisation. The only reason you exist is because we love the game.

Protesting by not attending 1 game won't be enough. They need a serious dip in ratings and attendances over a prolonged period of time.

When you get a bloke who left school in year 10 talking about statistical analysis on a 700k salary shows we are indeed the luckycountry.

They don't care about the fans, that's correct. They do want fans there, but only as decoration for the TV coverage, looks crap having a half empty ground on TV.

I need to compose a letter to the commission. Geez Silvertiger, you need to stop going easy on them >:D

Nice article on the ABC website pointing out how inadequate the AFL testing was:

Ouch. That makes Hocking out to be a liar. No wonder he refused to comment.

Which prominent journo is going to call him out and ask about the 15%?

Haaarrrgh. Let's see the corporate suits justify themselves out of these comments. Bet the numb nuts simply ignore n plough through full steam ahead.

And THAT is why we need the ABC - independent journalism is vital to a democratic society. HS, Foxsports etc all have vested interests that skew their reporting.

The 6-6-6 rule only applies after a goal doesn't it?

All of the 18 metre goal square hoo har seems to be based on the assumption that everyone will kick it as far as they can from the top of the square.

At best they're are superficial changes that are aimed at giving loser teams like St.Kilda, Carlton and GC the appearance of hope.

Yes the 6-6-6 is only at centre bounces.

The goal square comments in the media have all indicated that everyone will be going the torp. For me, most teams will go the other way. There are several teams (like Hawks / West Coast etc) which pride themselves on efficient use of the ball and therefore controlling territory through good ball movement, the torp doesn't cut it with these teams. There are others that know they aren't that good so try and control the ball from kick outs (like most of the bottom teams) that will just continue to kick it short. This change will actually create more turnovers against *smile* teams and whilst it might increase some scoring, it will increase scoring to those better teams and create bigger blowouts = poorer and less competitive games of footy.

There are only a few teams that will even kick it long like they are hoping, maybe Melbourne, or maybe even us, but I can't think of that many that will, it will just create more short kicking IMO instead of longer kicking, it will have the opposite effect IMO.

Can't wait for rance grimes and vloss to intercept and mop up from the oppo long kick in. Just let them try

I can’t wait for the person kicking out to kick backwards into the pocket. :rofl

what about a short pass from the goal line to a teammate still inside the square.

with the supposed 6-6-6 rule what happens if a team only has 17 on the field? free against?

or 3players hobbling slowly off injured. will they need to only have 3 inside the centre square?

There's only one journo who'd be prepared to do it. Mick Warner

18m goal square.

Do you still get put directly in front if you mark in the square?

Are you still allowed to rush it from the square if you are under pressure?

Idiots

Let’s just play AFLX all year, so exciting. And get blight commentating with Kermit and Bruce. Can’t wait. The lint in my navel will just have to wait.
