Matt white

I know you worked at Port but you must be kidding.

Why? Hardwick's not a wizard, he had very talented players to work with.

Very different styles of management but both equally loved by their players. I'd argue Hinkley has him covered in the box. Can't see what we would lose that would make us a worse team, it's a like for like swap.

Can't agree. "Snipe'n'flop" works as a tactic against Richmond, not for it.

Any worse than Hardwick as coach of Richmond.

We might have won 2018 as well. ;)

Pure speculation on your behalf oh contrarian TBR!

More likely would not have won anything!!

Anyway, sliding doors moment that will never be answered.

I'm just glad Dimma has those 3 Flags and the Port/Geel nuffy has ZERO!!! :ROFLMAO:
:p

Got to disagree. I think Port probably have more talent than us, certainly more elite/very good players.
I think we've had an elite system that protects our bottom talent from being exposed. I seriously can't believe Castagna would survive at any other club for example. But instead of sinking, he's done well.
Kenny has had a lot more talent, but not been able to pull it together. I think their window is shut now.

Matt White, the poor mans Nathan Bower.
Nice comparison. Bower was really only any good when we played West Coast, because he could outrun Matera. Matera would crack the *smile* and try to belt Bower and Mick would drag him for a bit. Matt and Nathan never quite worked out that the game was about more than running fast.

Mate don't forget Dimma build our list with compromised drafts expansion teams many coaches wouldn't get close to the job he did.

If Hinkley was at a powerhouse he would have be sacked seasons ago has failed on the big stages number of times and Port we're in the box seat double chances and home finals there the facts. One coach has 3 flags and the other has 0.

I bumped in to White at the races just before the 2017 Grand Final. He said it was a nightmare - Richmond v Adelaide - as an ex-Port player and what happened at Tigerland they were his two most hated teams. He said he wouldn't be watching.
Could have gone to the Zoo with Lids…

if we’re talking over the past 6 years T_G I’ve got to disagree with you, I think they’ve had very little elite talent , Grey, Wines and Boak would be the only ones even considered I’d imagine , we’ve had Dusty, Skip, Grimes, Houli, Reiwoldt, Rance, Lambert, Prestia ,Lynch, Vlaustin who’d all have to be considered elite in their positions imho

White would be the most overrated footballer I can remember by the Tiger faithful IMHo, incredible effort to play 200 AFL games

As for White he was no loss to me hearing him sounds like sour grapes and a grudge , but hey we went for the better 3 flags later.

Of those Mr_B, I'd rate Martin, Cotchin, Reiwoldt, Rance and Grimes as Elite. The others are very good, with the potential to be elite, but no. Not there consistently.
Bachar for example, great attacking player, but sides would exploit him going the other way. One player I think you may have missed is Edwards, who for a season or two was sublime.

Rance was really only there for 2 years in the run between 2017 - Now.

I enjoyed watching Matt play for the tiges. I was disappointed when he left. Played his best footy at Port, after the tigers invested a number of years in him.

I don't blame him for leaving for some financial security. I doubt Matt got rich from footy. These days the club is much more mature in supporting players that leave

Pretty harsh, you don't go 31-8 across two seasons without a decent tactical base.

How did you come to this conclusion?

Just my opinion. I watch these two teams more than anyone else and that's my take.

I'd definitely argue that, General. In 2017 Hardwick had one of the best of all time at either end of the ground and maybe the best of all time in the middle.

Particularly defensively, Hardwick has been blessed with talent. Rance, Grimes, Astbury, Vlastuin, Houli and Short would all be picked before any Port defenders were even considered.

If you picked the best combined team from the last few years I'd find it hard to see more than Wines, Boak and Gray being picked.

One coach has 3 flags and the other has 0.

One coach has Dustin Martin and the other doesn't. ;)

If Hinkley was even in the conversation with Dimma he would have got his team over the line in home Prelims.

Especially against sides his team were better than over 22 rounds. That shows they had the talent.

Anyway opinions don't matter, results do:

Dimma is an all time coaching great. Ken ain't.
