March To The Finals - 2020.

Well sheesh, pretty sure that's what my original comment was about before my comment was cherry picked. My point was I see real risk in the quality of our midfield in finals type pressure. Too many bottom 6 players in that midfield. Imo based on what I've see with our midfield Prestia and Edwards are crucial for a realistic chance in finals.
There’s nothing wrong with “role players”. Ask the experts to recall 2017!

Seriously, who is the conditioning head honcho down there.

AFL should mint a couple of premiership medallions for this god-tier individual.

Second thoughts LTR?

If they play like that, consistently, they can do it. Eagles with a handful out were a different side to recent encounters.

Was kinda dreading last night's game and couldn't believe we were favourites.

Grimes injury is a big concern, Broad and Vlastuin can pinch-hit on talls but aren't week in, week out solutions. Garthwaite would be risky.

Plus, we shot the lights out after being one of the less accurate teams this year.

I'm a big believer in things never being as good or as bad as they seem. Last night made them seem pretty good. We're flag favourites again and it didn't work for us in 2018.

But I'm going to soak this one up today.

Not sure I said there was anything wrong with role players did I? Which is different to needing a core quality midfield as opposed to a midfield of role players.

Re: players to come back in. Let's not forget the lessons of that fatal 2015 finals v North.

We should have stuck with the form players and not brought back underdone regulars.

Not saying don't bring back Edwards, Astbury and Prestia et Al but just hoping we make a considered judgement.

I'm feeling far more confident now about our Premiership defense (with one exception below).

We're seeing our pressure ramped up in recent weeks and our ball movement has been coming together too. On top of that you can see the connection and determination in the players. I know some on here have noted how fired up Dusty was during and after the game and it's a great sign.

Assuming we get to play our finals in QLD we'll go well. Port are pretenders with no backline, West Coast are home ground bullies, and our system will overpower Geesook. Brisbane will go out in straight sets again, and forget the rest.

So my one concern is defense. We need Astbury and Grimes in and fit. I'd be concerned at playing Geelong with only Balta as our one big defender. Get DTLD & Grubb back in and we're looking very good.

Then if Edwards and Prestia get in, happy days.

Running multiple simulations my favourite ladder predictor site Squiggle has us fairly consistently in top four now, even with 11.5 wins. WCE in danger of missing top four which is huge as I see them and Geelong as our major threats. WCE are our only challenger for fourth spot - if they get to 12 wins we probably slip to fifth, so keep barracking hard against them.

If we win all the remaining games we can't miss out.

6-8 is pretty settled now according to Squiggle, with St Kilda, Melbourne and Collingwood making it. GWS nope, Bulldogs nope.

Thank god I am now a card carrying Pineapple Person.

ScoMo certainly thanks god for pineapple people. Mr.Adani probably does too, or maybe Vishnu or some other diety?

Covid cases increasing a bit on GC and Brisbane maybe jeopardising Qld crowds?

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but...

If we win it this year and then back it up again in 2021 we will have made it 4 premierships in 5 years with 17 teams trying to catch us.

This surely eclipses Melbourne of the fifties (5 in 6 years against 11 opponents) and Collingwood of the twenties (4 in 4 years against 11 opponents).

GOAT.

... yeah maybe a bit.

Hey Antman, the Squiggle is fun to play with. Friday night is huge for the Pies, as if they lose to Brisbane and then Port in the final round, they miss the finals. Our game against Geelong is massive also, especially if WC keep winning. I reckon the Saints or Dogs could roll WCE. Some very interesting games coming up!

Let’s just get past the cats in a few weeks time first.

This is a dam tough stretch to navigate

Melb - West Coast - Geelong just to get to the big dance
