March To The Finals - 2020.

Teams are countering forward forays by either flooding or setting up the extra man like we do.

Gone are the days of bombing to our talls and having them create contests for our quick smalls to feed off. This has to end.

Teams have seen how we do defence and copied it so If we continue to bomb it long we are just gonna see it come straight back out.

We will be playing straight into McGovern's lap this week if we choose to do so.

Lets negate their aerial strength and scrub the ball in low and let Jack and Tom "make room" for our smalls to attack the ground balls.

Its a noted weakness of WCE and we should exploit it.

JMHO.

WA making a big push to host finals again, possibly relaxing quarantine for AFL teams. It's complicated, but things are happening.

They shot themselves in feet with the 24 oct crowd restrictions i reckon.

I also think 1. queenslands 2 first class grounds (=option of 4 finals in a weekend) and 2 the fact that uncle gil said the brownlow will be in GF town and 16 sides are in qld

Makes for a gabba GF.

I also reckon Simpsons megasook threat to go home back at the start would have to count against them?

I actually cant beleive the AFL didnt take the opportunity to have a best of 3 series?

Would have generated probably twice normal revenue, more fans could attend a GF, and its novel and weird to cap off the season.

superb trolling by Easy there

No Im actually of the in-for-a-penny, in-for-a-pound thing on 2020.

everything is weird, so go with it.

I'm also thinking 2 X grand final BBQ's would be great

plus dusty could go to 4 Norm Smith medals

Its just a shame they didnt get to play the decider at Uluru.

I was really looking forward to that.

So if we make the GF , what happens to the Members who hav3 garunteed GF tickets ? Nul an void I gather , otherwise what’s the chances of hiring a tiny around Byron bay and crushing on up the Brisbane river to the Gabba ?

The AFL is committed to Queensland and it has been a money pit for the AFL for many years.

Rather than just auction the GF, the AFL should hold the GF in Qld as the ultimate promotion of the game.

This,

Plus id like The West's eastern seaboard paranoia to become a self fullfilling prophesy.

Will games in the finals revert back to 20min quarters? I thought I heard it raised at some point.

I was worried last night when we took our positions.

No one was smiling.

great win last night, but it'll be all for nothing if we don't win our last 3 gamea and make top 4.

I think the odds are improving that some of us will be allowed to go. The NSW govt have said they will allow VIC fans to hub in Homebush as part of their bid. WA have said they will provide exemptions for AFL executives. I think the pressure is increasing for bidding governments to allow fans of competing clubs to attend.

If the GF was in Brisbane for example, I can see the league making arrangements with Virgin for special FIFO flights for a few thousand Richmond supporters (under strict rules like facemasks, etc) if we make it. It helps that the COVID situation here is improving.

Maybe just having a down moment but after the positive vibes following the Dogs and Lions wins, I think we are going to struggle to get to the pointy end. Only Cotchin has returned from injury, and Caddy who has been dropped. Running out of time to get games into Houli and Edwards who’ve played 9 matches between them. Nankervis won’t be much help unless he returns better than he did last year, and Prestia is behind him in recovery. Astbury... who knows?

The current 22 ain’t winning the flag. Get over the Eagles and I’ll re-think it, but we need to have pretty much a clean slate with injuries from here. Without a fit Prestia and Edwards I don’t think we bat deep enough in the middle to win three (or four) finals.
Second thoughts LTR?
