Lynch !!

Patience Grasshoppers. I'd be fine with him following Presita's first year. Most of it on the sidelines but in tip top shape come finals where he is an integral part of bringing home #12.

Isn’t he playing on Friday night in a practice match for the 2’s???

He’ll have to be brought through the VFL
Guy hasn’t played a game in 6 years

Sorry, I didn't explain that very well.

What I mean is last year we played a single ruckman which meant we had stacks of freedom in rotations to keep our mids fresh, especially as Rance, Astbury and Riewoldt rarely rotate. It meant all we really had to do was allow for Nankervis to play 80 odd percent and then rotate freely through the other 18 spots. (There's strong logic to suggest that model is the reason we have had such a good run with injury over the past couple of years by the way).

Assuming we play another ruck this year that will mean a significant increase for the ruck spot on the bench, from 20-25% is likely to become over 50%, assuming Balta plays about 70% which is likely all he will manage at that level after so few training years.

If you were to carry Lynch at 60-70% then you have increased the running players workload by two players (Lynch and Balta no longer runners) and you have decreased the opportunity to rotate significantly.

It may not sound a lot but a change like that will have a significant impact on the workload of our midfielders and small forwards and defenders.

Understand and I agree with the theory. Reiwoldt plays in the 90percent range and you'd expect Lynch would be doing the same when fully match fit. Lynch only playing 70% would mean an extra 20% of game time required from all the other rotating players over the 4 bench places. Maybe 3% per player (3.5minutes). I think this could be well handled particularly early in the season when bodies aren't as sore as later in the season. Based on the last game of last season home and away again that means players like Cotchin plays 77% insstead of 74. Prestia 78 (75), Houli 76 (73), Higgins 74 (71), McIntosh 77 (74), Rioli 78 (75), Castagna 81 (78). Spread amongst players it's not really a huge increase. Not sure by the way why Balta wouldn't play close to full game time. He's had a good pre-season and played 76% and 77% in praccie games.

Anyhow we'll soon find out. Getting excited :).

Can we chant Aussie, Aussie, Aussie everytime he marks the ball?

I like the thinking, but reckon we need to be more subtle about it,

So the collingwood fans have no idea whats being said.

Maybe we could sing

'We come from the suburb down under ..... where if lynchy doesnt grab it, georgy, geezer and Higlet PLUNDER'

Or we could just confound them by going

'Go lynchy!'

He kicked 66 goals in 2016...and that was for Gold Coast.

I dont think that I'm putting too fine a point on it when I say imagine his potential when he is getting delivery from our midfield.

Potential Coleman medallist

My expectations of goals this season for Tom are relatively low, structure is the key, if he can just clunk a few down the line, draw the triple tag away from Jack and keep the defensive intercepters honest it will go a long way to making as a better side ,(anything else will be a bonus year 1 from Tom). Our smalls should be just as dangerous as I expect more ground ball with more aerial contests halved by our forwards if not won.

Balmey says Lynch will play Rd 1

Seems strange to me. Has not played a game for zonks and Balmy wants him in for round 1. Thought they might give him a run in the 2's for a start to see how he goes.

Still concerned over his knee problems. Time will tell.

As others have alluded gs1 you’ve got to take Balme with a grain of salt , apparently he won’t play in the VFL practice match
