Lynch !!

We all love unwrapping the BIG present Christmas day (in this case Round 1). Whist Round 1 can deliver unpredictable results, we should be able to cover Carlton without Lynch. Happy to have him play when he is ready.

I’m told by a very unreliable source that he was moving and kicking well this morning in Wodonga

The drills were very low intensity and he wasn't changing direction all that well.

I would prefer that he be 100% when he plays even if it means a round 4 debut.

That is quite a worry. Doc. Larkin is pretty well credentialed to make those comments.

This guy still trying to make himself relevant and find a footy job after being sacked by every radio and tv station with a license?

Read the article, it’s just Larkins making comment based on the amount of ACLs performed V the amount of PCLs. Beat up.

Yep TT. Just read part of it while getting a coffee. Nothing new to worry about.

Larkins a *smile* anyway.

Bagging Larkins doesn't change the fact that, as Graystar pointed out, he is very well credentialed to make the comments that he did.
In essence, PCL's can be trickier injuries / operations to fully recover from than ACL's, and there is no guarantee that he will return to his best.
Obviously, we hope Lynch has the Luke Hodge-type experience and does return to (near) his best, rather than the worst case scenario.

must be a quiet news day.

It’s news you don’t want to hear with a new bloke that has 7 years to go and is on big coin.

But it’s not news. It was well known when we traded for him. And the Larkin article doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

***Warning old news:

Western Tiger, couldn't access HS but I assume it is similar to what Peter Larkins said on SEN in June 2018, (prior to his surgery in July),

You do have to wonder if Lynch was poorly managed at Gold Coast though?

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/06/14/lynch-managing-restrictive-pcl-injury-edmund/

The Herald Sun’s Sam Edmund has revealed Gold Coast’s Tom Lynch is managing a restrictive PCL injury, which has influenced his performances this season.

“He (Lynch) is playing hurt, and probably playing far more hurt than what a lot of people would realise,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“It’s the ongoing PCL injury that ended his season early last year, required a month of rest this year and it’s now so bad, it’s swelling up weekly, he can’t get up and down the ground, he has told the Suns when he gets even the slightest knock in the right spot, that’s it.

“I spoke to a number of medical experts last night, and one of our favourites Dr Peter Larkins says, the PCL is such an underrated injury in terms of its complexity. He said they’ve done 1,800 ACL reconstructions at the Epworth in the past two years. They’ve done 14 PCLs.

“There’s two reasons for that. One is the PCL is far more complicated in the operation, prone to infections and all sorts of setbacks.

“The second is 95 percent of the time, they think rest can fix it.

“AFL clubs traditionally haven’t given their players enough rest.

“The only course of action now is, if it doesn’t heal with rest, is surgery.”

The likes of Grant Birchall, Jarryd Roughead, Luke Hodge, Nakia Cockatoo and Cyril Rioli have all dealt with PCL injuries.

Lynch has kicked just 15 goals in eight appearances this season, while being courted by multiple Victorian clubs as he comes out of contract.
