Lynch !!

Any Posters out there subscribers to the Herald Sun and have access to blocked articles?

If so can you give us an insight as to what Lynch had to say in today's article headlined:

"LYNCH SETS SIGHTS ON ROUND 1 TIGERS DEBUT"

So he might be ready round 5?

Damn and here I was thinking the RFC medicos would’ve checked him out thoroughly before we committed to a long term deal. Should’ve just asked Larko!

Bagging Larkins doesn't change the fact that, as Graystar pointed out, he is very well credentialed to make the comments that he did.
In essence, PCL's can be trickier injuries / operations to fully recover from than ACL's, and there is no guarantee that he will return to his best.
Obviously, we hope Lynch has the Luke Hodge-type experience and does return to (near) his best, rather than the worst case scenario.

Sure bagging Larkins doesnt change the fact but i would ask you , Is Larkins a specialist in this field ?

I would guess that the RFC would have access to better knee specialist than what Larkins is and would have made their decision to recruit Lynch with full knowledge of his exact condition and recovery.

Going by what the papers are saying, it's his call when.

If he's fit, he plays.
No easing in unless they play him in quarters and halves in the VFL and can't see that happening.
Carlton the perfect bruise free encounter to ease him in, then ready to test Collingchokes woeful backline

Cartoon is virtually a bye for us, so we can phase Tommy in and out of the game and rest him once we've floored them.

Get him 100% for the Chokers coz I wanna see pain and agony in those toothless pricks.

Will be especially delicious if it happens considering his background and how hard they chased him.

Yep, that's the agony. I can see the ferals spitting and yelling at him through their cages. ;D

Can we chant Aussie, Aussie, Aussie everytime he marks the ball?

Can not imagine a better game for Lynch to play 60%-70% game time in - Rnd 1 v Carlton

Start him on the bench and bring him on 15 mins into the game when the initial pace has gone

That’s what I’m thinking , just chain him to the goal sq

I can't see any way we go in tho any game with someone well off full fitness.

The competition is too tight to give a sucker an easy break.

Is he well off full fitness? Many players in a game play only 70% game time. As an example last game last year Castagna played 67%, Baker 71, Lloyd 71, Conca 72

Surely the club is thinking about the next 5 years rather than round one.

Lynch will be being well managed like Prestia was, when he's ready he'll be ready.

Personally i dont believe he is 'well off full fitness' but more off game fitness

80% Lynch is still a formidable opponent and will stretch any defence

I would play him against Carlton rather than some hacks in the vfl to gain match fitness

Would be unusual to do it with a key position player and would certainly have an impact on rotations.

Not ideal but also not unusual at all. As an example, in West Coast's prelim final and grand final Lycett played 61% and 69% respectively. Depending on the situation there's no harm if planned well giving a player a little less game time because they are not match fit especially if they're a very important player. I'm sure the club will make the best call whatever they end up deciding for Round 1 team selections.

A lot different when you are talking teams that structure with a second ruckman, that's a totally different rotational structure and in our case that role is likely to be Balta now.

You said rotations was an issue. I don't see the difference between that player being a ruckman or a key position player. In both cases it reduces the rotations of smaller players. West Coast managed to win a premiership with a ruckman playing less than 70% game time. That affects the rotations big time. I think we're over-analysing here anyway. There have been plenty of cases in 2018 where key position forwards coming off injuries play limited game time in their first game back. We're not talking long term situation here, possibly just the one game The original poster's point was, if we were going to do that with Lynch, then Carlton would be a good game for that. I agree, more likely to cover this scenario playing Carlton than a West Coast. If Lynch is fit, which I believe based on how long he has now been running, he is fit enough to play full forward, I can easily see Tigers playing him planned with a lower game time percentage. Best case scenario the game is over well before the end of the game and Lynch can be put away to rest.
