Any Posters out there subscribers to the Herald Sun and have access to blocked articles?

If so can you give us an insight as to what Lynch had to say in today's article headlined:

"LYNCH SETS SIGHTS ON ROUND 1 TIGERS DEBUT"

I'll never subscribe to the Hun but I enjoy stooging them with their online loopholes. I'll try and get this article up.

Richmond recruit Tom Lynch remains determined to play Round 1 and says he is not worried by the prospect of slotting into his new team without a practice match under his belt.

Lynch, who had surgery on a ruptured posterior cruciate ligament last July, remains in the Tigers’ rehabilitation group and missed the club’s intra-club match on Saturday.

He has been ruled out of featuring in either of Richmond’s JLT Community Series pre-season matches but said he still had hope of being fit to tackle Carlton in the season-opener on March 21.

Asked if a Round 1 appearance remained on his agenda, Lynch replied, “Hopefully”.

“If I answer honestly, I’m not sure at the moment, but I’ll be very close,” Lynch said at Richmond’s Community Camp in Albury this morning.

“If I miss out, I miss out. But I’m planning for that so hopefully I’ll be out there.

“Over my career I haven’t played many games at the ‘G so it will be pretty exciting playing out there Round 1 against Carlton.”

The 26-year-old said he had been “stepping up the training” over the past month but had been taking a cautious approach to his recovery under the guidance of Tigers medical staff.

“I’ve been in and out of drills at the moment. I started my competitive work last week and over the next probably two weeks I’ll really look to ramp that up,” Lynch said.

“I knew when I had the surgery initially that it was going to be a long time and we had to be patient with it. Richmond’s been really good and just said, ‘Take it slow, we want to build it, it’s not about straight away, you’ve got a long future ahead’. So I knew that straight away but obviously you get to a new club, you want to be out there straight away with the boys. But the last month’s been really exciting to be able to get out there with the boys and start training.”

The former Gold Coast Suns co-captain said he was not concerned about team synergy early in the season, saying he would be given a role to play and fill it.

“We’ve been training for a fair while now,” he said.

“Initially, Jack (Riewoldt) said it might be a bit clunky but if I just come in and play my role it will be okay. The boys have been playing together for a while now so I’ll be able to slot in and just play my role.”

The biggest crowd Lynch has played in front of during his eight-season AFL career is 51,774 against West Coast at Perth Stadium last year, making the prospect of stepping up in front of potentially 85,000 at the MCG in Round 1 all the more enticing.

“It will be pretty exciting, especially when they’re barracking for you,” Lynch said.

“It will be great to get out on the ‘G and I just can’t wait to get out there.”

Lynch has kicked 254 goals from 131 career games, his best haul in a single season being 66 in 2016.

Interesting you included the forgotten Moore in that bunch, spoke to FLY today and without any prompting from me he said that Moore has had a brilliant pre-season and a legit chance for the role. Moore was doing ruck drills with the group as we were speaking.

very interesting. any chance there is room in the team for Lynch and Moore (or Balta) in the same team? The club has said they don't wanna play Lynch as our backup ruck. Melbourne are planning on playing 2 ruckman this year. could this be the new fad?

While Number8's picked up the Hun, here's Dage ;D (some different words from Tommy):

Although the prospect of playing in front of a packed MCG in round one has Richmond recruit Tom Lynch excited, he admits he remains uncertain to play in the season opener.

Speaking at the Tigers' community camp in Wodonga on Tuesday, the 26-year-old, who joined the Tigers as a free agent at the end of last season, said ensuring his knee was right was more important than playing in round one.

"I knew when I had the surgery initially it was going to be a long time and we had to be patient with it," Lynch said.

Asked whether he was a chance to play in round one against Carlton in a game that traditionally attracts 80,000 spectators, he admitted he was uncertain.

"If I answer honestly I am not sure at the moment, but I will be very close. If I miss out, I miss out," Lynch said.

The Tigers confirmed last week Lynch would miss the JLT Community Series and admitted he was touch and go for round one.

Richmond are aware there is no need to rush him towards an arbitrary return date and will play him when he is ready.

"I have been progressing well, stepping up training in the past month," Lynch said.

"I am in and out of drills and ramping it up."

The Tigers, who have had very few injuries to key players in recent seasons, brought players such as Daniel Rioli and Dan Butler back through the VFL after long injury lay-offs.

However Lynch, who played just 10 games last season before having surgery in July to repair his posterior cruciate ligament, is keen to make his debut for the Tigers.

The biggest crowd Lynch has played in front of in his 131-game career was 51,774 in round four last season against West Coast and he has joined the Tigers who averaged 54,313 spectators a game in last year's home and away season.

Lynch said he understands the pressure but that it was not much different for any AFL player when they head into a new season.

"Every year you have got a point to prove," Lynch said.

Its actually strange that some of us seem a little unsure of what Lynch will bring to the team because of how it affects other players and team balance.
I reckon if we didn't have Riewoldt, he'd be seen as the Messiah. At one stage he was arguably the best power forward in the game.
Surely he makes us an infinitely better team? I'm calling it early. Top 5 player at Richmond within 18 months. Possibly top 20 player in the league if injury doesn't play a roll.

He could easily be a top 5 player in the league.

Im tipping at the start ,while he will be good, its Jack who will be get off the leash and run amok

Nick Riewoldt rates him in the top 5 key forwards in the game. Norf fans are going ape droppings because Ben Brown is ranked 9th lol.

you can see how good jack is when playing a nick riewodlt type roll,is going to allow lynch to be less double teamed ,jack was good at both full forward and centre half forward rolls, now we have both as lynch is a arobic beast with a high reach.

If he has only just started full training he is almost certainly not going to play in the to practise games so would be well underdone for 21 March. I just can't see he match fit by then but hope I am wrong.

Sick of dumb, stupid and repetitive questions always asked.

Don't worry Tommy, we're embracing you alright.

Bloke very clearly has never had the need for media training on the gold coast. Looks like he is doing it for the first time. And he was captain of the suns.

You have to feel for these gun juniors that get drafted to these plastic clubs and waste half their careers playing meaningless football.

Can't see much point playing him round 1, let him get well and truly ready before his first game with us. Recall also that I think it was Brendon Gale who said a few years ago that Richmond thought they would need a second big marking forward to win a flag, so there has been thought about how to get the structure right for a while. Thankfully we did manage a flag with only one big marking forward but this should make the team better. I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to get the structure right before September, it is a long season and lots of games to try things out.

Now, if we can only sort out the ruck . . . hmm, long season, try a few things and see what works.
