Lynch !!

So a guy who turns to protect himself from an opposition player who doesn’t have his eyes on the ball is under threat of suspension, yet a guy (McKay) who makes wilful contact to an opposition player and strikes his head doing so, well that’s just a fine ?

You can’t be serious. What is happening to this game.

And as for Mince Whateley suggesting that Lynch shouldn’t have tried to protect himself (ie just wear it), well that stupidity just typifies again the hatred and bias some in the media hold for Richmond. Then again, I’m pretty sure he’s never played the game so I’ll cut him some slack for his stupidity.

Yeah….just let Keath cannon into you and wear the injury. Sure. Looked like Brereton wanted to say “WTF are you talking about ?” but knew where his bread was best buttered and thought better of it.

There’s nothing that Lynch can say that will get him off given the adjudication is reverse engineered from the premise that because the player was concussed that Lynch did something wrong.

Lynch was in the air when he made head high contact, (will be judged as him choosing to jump into his opponent)

Lynch was bracing for what appears to be an unavoidable collision, (will be judged as Lynch electing to bump, and because he ‘chose to do so’, is responsible for the outcome)

The fact that he was galloping toward a marking contest and then had to turn his body as soon as he saw his opponent running directly into his line, (which would explain why he couldn’t keep both feet planted when he impacted the player) won’t matter.

If you’re searching for a guilty verdict for what happened you can find it if you’re viewing through the lens of: “concussion = guilty player”.

Can you imagine the media if Lynch hadn't protected himself, they'd have been laughing their bits off. "What was he thinking" etc etc. What a stupid Pratt Whateley is. Can you imagine him playing footy, I for one would like to be an opposition player.

As I posted above, according to Whateley and Derm once he decided to protect himself in this way by bracing and turning, he had a duty of care. Amazing stuff. Just get spiflicated or get suspended wtf
He could have dived out of the way; he’d look like a goose but wouldn’t end up in kangaroo court.

Tovey (Richmond): Tom Lynch hasn't chosen this situation, he hasn't made a decision to bring this about, it's a situation that came to him and was completely unexpected.

Well said. In other words WTF was Keath doing knowing he was never going to impact on the contest.

Shows how bad this show is when run by 2 journos. Wankley knows nothing about basics of football. He lets others like King, Figgy etc do the talking.

If you choose to bump and get them high you are in trouble.
Pretty bloody simple isn't it? AFL been pushing this barra for more than a few years now and they've started putting the screws on Christian and the tribunal to get tougher and more consistent regarding penalising these actions. Got massive concussion lawsuits coming up n they've got no choice but to get more proactive in stamping out head high bumps.

Yeah. Unlike the McKay incident to the head which was wilfully caused by McKay from a mile away. That’s ok. Lynch protecting himself from someone without eyes on the ball isn’t.

I disagree with the premise that Lynch ‘chose’ to go head high.

What was he supposed to do at the end of a gallop preceding what was going to be a marking contest? Duck?

If he gets done because of the end result so be it, however framing his actions as deliberate is unfair.

Unless he was supposed to jump out of the way like a circus gimp.

Tovey seems to be the only one there that has read the guidelines.
What Woods said doesn’t make any sense when you read their own definition for Careless for Rough Conduct
