Lynch !!

Agree with others saying it was a bad look & totally not necessary. He needs to eliminate the silly stuff like that. But if he gets a week for that it would be ridiculous.

Without this guy no flag last year, hes so important and a very good player. Its not a good look for the game though and agree with others lay off the niggle and play hard footy, I think a fine but if given a week we should appeal, needless to say I hope Dimma has a word with him, some players actually play better when goaded, not necessary.

Even if it was “next to nil if not completely nil“ in terms of causing injury then surely there was “absolutely nil“ value in doing it

It was unnecessary and not a great look - but it was also risking a free kick - and that would have made it dumb as well

Don't mind him showing off the ball aggro but prefer when all parties are on their feet and facing each other

Whats the value in doing most niggly *smile*? Ego, intimidation. Its footy field stuff. He was copping A LOT of the same type of stuff that was completely unnecessary & he did it as a reaction to all that. No one on either side did anything that realistically would have caused any type of injury, Thats the line for me. - the likelyhood of someone getting seriously hurt, or even minor injury,

IE What Jake Carlise did was the same deal. Not a good look, rmuch worse look actually . He got a fine. Thats about all the Lynch thing is worth. I'm not gonna sit there a wiggle my finger while making a 'tsk, tsk' sound while he totally dominated the game for us and our club & totally flew the flag that gave the game its most interesting aspect. They tried to come out and bully us, and as a senior bloke in a fairly young side - he did his bit to put them back in the corner.

Its worth a fine & if he gets one he wont argue against it. We don't have to break down these single incidents to mean anymore than they do. In the bubble which was this game of footy - it made sense at the time, to me. A lot of agro and chest out macho crapola was happening between him and his opponents.

just watched it again, I cant believe anyone thinks that is a suspension actually.

It was an open hand push to his head. no clenched fist. Player jumps straight back up after he realizes the ump isnt going to give a free for his reaction. It should have been a free kick, but like much of the night - the umps were terrible and didnt call it. Even a fine would be harsh.

The only thing that even makes this a conversation is we know the AFL are totally inconsistent when it comes to stuff like this. You cant suspend a bloke for pushing a bloke in the head with low impact. The only risk involved in what he did was a free kick.

Exactly. How many times would this happen between brothers / mates? No real malice. Just a bit of blokey one-upmanship but I guess that's not allowed any more

Normally when u watch an incident in slow-mo, it looks way worse. His is the opposite. Watching it in slow-mo you realise how pathetically nothing it was. A open handed push to the back of his head. The head never hits the ground - no bounce back of force whatsoever - the force was so minimal that the momentum stops by just glancing the lion blokes inner arm. You see the opponent grab his head to try and draw a free (which was there), peak to the side to see if it got the umps attention - didn't - straight back up as if nothing happened. If he gets a week they will contest it for sure

Gee there's a bit of a push on from some media types. ... mostly ex players who are carrying on like it's the greatest dog act ever committed. .. probably get done for a blade of grass brushing his cornea!

I tend to agree with those saying it is a poor look. Reckon we would be filthy if an opposition player did it to one of ours.

Then again, Tom Hawkins, a serial offender, just got off with elbowing a player in the head. If Lynch somehow gets suspended for this indiscretion then that really is ludicrous

We'll see what they do, I reckon it was barely a push to the head. Unnecessary but really very little in it.

After Hawkins got off for elbowing someone in the head I think we would be right to claim bias if this gets a suspension, that Hawkins one was clearly a week, this one is nothing.

Just read the story in the HUN where their premier footy writers Simeon Thomas-Wilson and Chris Cavanagh wrote up : “Richmond faces a nervous wait for the MRO review on Wednesday after the spearhead was involved in a silly incident. He forcefully pushed Alex Witherdens head into the ground. Witherden was not injured but if MRO Officer Michael Christian deems there was enough force to warrant a report then Lynch would face a one game ban for intentional of low impact and high contact. “

Well there you are, judge jury and executioner.

His head definitely doesn't hit the ground, for christ sake. Its like they only watched the footage once on their phone. His head glances the inside of his arm and then thats it. His head only goes to ground once he plays for the free kick & credit to the player - once he realised he wasnt getting the free, he got straight up and played on,.

The ump should miss a week for missing the free.

I feel sorry for Caro, decades of working in a male, pig headed industry has made her a very sour, negative piece of work. Some will argue she was always like that but i personally thought she provided a good counter view in the past. These days she is just an awful football personality & seems to just focus on a negative, talks over everyone she is debating with & quite frankly, has become part of the toxic footy culture i think she used to have to work hard to put in their place. Watching her & McGuire debate stuff is like watching Trump & H.Clinton play chess.

The footy media needs an overhaul, big time. Maybe its time for a lot of us footy fans to make our own AFL reporting website and report the games as independents. It seems the footy media has become as compromised in creating panic as the US media political outlets

Insufficient force to constitute a suspension - it will be a fine only

It was stupid and looked stupid. Still not worth a week, but of course because it looked spiteful and petulant the MRP offers 1 week - is that confirmed? If so Tom's only got himself to blame.

i don't mind Tom playing the tough guy if it helps his game, but that was just plastic manufactured nonsense.
