Lynch !!

Loved his agro last night. It was good to see some footy played with some spirit - been sorely missing this season.

If he gets rubbed out for that tap, the game might as well pack up for the season. They need the players to get into it as the product has been absolutely crap.

This from some wanker named Jai Bednal...

That *smile* again?

- unbelievably salty 2017 grand final review
- wanted Sam Lloyd punished because an opponent was injured in a marking attempt

Every time his name bobs up, which isn't often, it stinks of *smile*. Don't want to sound over the top but Jai Bednall is the worst footy writer there has ever been. He makes Robbo look like Hemingway.

I have to say I cringed when he shoved the guys head into the ground. That’s just unnecessary and certainly needs to be looked at. And it’s not tough - the guys was in the ground. Undisciplined act. Not impressed.

Yeah and it wasn't even a tap; just a push. I can't believe it's actually a talking point. If he gets a week for that it will be the height of ridicule.

Compare that with what Hawkins did in the finals last year. Punched Schofield in the head and only got a week. How could Lynch possibly get the same penalty for an act that had zero impact on the opposition player? Insanity to even think about it.

Yeah it was unnecessary but let's not go over the top. It wasn't a punch but a push and Witherden suffered absolutely zero effect from it. Tom should probably get that out of his game whilst still being aggressive at the ball and the contest but it's not worth a suspension or even a fine.

I'm sure he will get a fine as the media is having a frenzy over it. But "top bloke" Burgoyne can slam Dangerfield's head into turf and get off

There was a lot of niggle taking place but it wasn't smart from Lynch. In the scheme of things - looked like Witherden's head hit his arm and not the ground, and he didn't require treatment - a suspension would be grossly inconsistent with other Christian verdicts this season.

I didn't like that slap to the back of the head either.
Not sure he needed to do it.
Now its chook lotto time with Christian...
Both Julian DeStoop and Tom Morris reckon it's clearly worth a week.

DeStoop and Morris need to go and see their mummies and ask for a new dummy to suck on.

Ponces.

I tend to agree with those saying it is a poor look. Reckon we would be filthy if an opposition player did it to one of ours.

Then again, Tom Hawkins, a serial offender, just got off with elbowing a player in the head. If Lynch somehow gets suspended for this indiscretion then that really is ludicrous

What was the chance of injury though? next to nil, if not completely nil

There are a 1000 things a game that are unnecessary - you surely suspend the ones which a probable chance of injury - perhaps fine the others that just "dont look good"

You know what doesn't "look good"? A "top of the table" clash where the 2nd place teams kicking 4.17 from perfect conditions.

Even if it was “next to nil if not completely nil“ in terms of causing injury then surely there was “absolutely nil“ value in doing it

It was unnecessary and not a great look - but it was also risking a free kick - and that would have made it dumb as well

Don't mind him showing off the ball aggro but prefer when all parties are on their feet and facing each other

Will get a week because the AFL need to make a "statement". Just like they did on Hawkins deliberate elbow - oh wait.

i reckon he needs to lay off the constant elbows, and plastic tough guy stuff. it doesnt achieve anything.

i love the way most of our guys play. when the ball is there go hard, and if someone gets in the way they get hurt.
but when the ball is not there they dont go stupid niggle.

watch Vlastuin or Grimes- 2 of the hardest players in the AFL. they treat their opponents with respect, until the ball is there to be won, then they treat them with disdain. the Richmond way.
