Luke Weller

I think the criticisms of Luke Weller are extremely premature.

He was very good in the preseason.  Certainly not slow.  He has a very good kick.

He came on when the crows were dominating and there was no midfield pressure whatsoever. That would make some of the best players in the competition look slow.

Are you serious TT?

I didn't see one sign during the pre-season to suggest Weller would make it!!

I hadn't written him off after one game against the Crows, i'd written him off before that. I have NO IDEA why we went anywhere near this guy.

Sometimes it doesn't take long to sum up a player. He didn't show any pace at any time and certainly looked skill deficient right from the first time i saw him against the Dogs all the way through to the last practice game i watched against the Blues at Optus oval.

I frowned when i saw his name come up against the Crows. I'd be happy if he somehow proved me and others here wrong, but i can't see it happen!

Give Luke a break. Imagine coming into a team that is a total rabble and trying to do well. Add to that the ball is coming into the forward line every 30 secs and there wouldn't be many defender debutante's that would have a good night.

Luke needs to be given at least another 3 weeks to let us see what is his future with us.

Give him some time fellows. Dud or not he deserves a fair go. ???

Good point KB.

He also kicked 3 or 4 goals that night.
That is why he should be given a chance on a forward flank also.

We have a habit of recruiting blokes who play well against us.

In that case can we expect RFC to trade our priority pick for Ben Graham ? Or maybe Justin Murpphy ? How about Nathan Thompson ? Daniel Chick ?

Reminded me of a typical Celtic centre forward: tall, clumsy, dumb, inept and useless.

But a typical Celtic centre forward would be a champion? :)
And l was referring to me not jughead!!!
Difference between me and him was $200000 per season.
And my ears fit on my head

(By the way Beverly, I do enjoy your bagpipe playing outside Flinders Street Station every night. Good stuff.)

Lost me there Brandon

maybe just close up shop all together
seems like no player is going to make it with us
how would you have played on friday night?
better still , put your name in the draft this year harry!
what do you reckon?
id like to see how you would go?

good point, i think id be happier if there wasn't a richmond at all. at the moment id be a lot more happy barracking for football and enjoying it without worrying about us getting thrashed by worse teams week in week out.

Ahhh c'mon Dylan. I know that's you playing the bagpipes at rush hour outside the front of Flinders Street Station in your dirty, filthy Celtic shirt every night.

Geez, you've gotta give the drugs up ! You look terrible !

(And keep your eye on your pot. I'm prone to being short of change for the train sometimes and quite often "borrow" some of your coin when you are distracted by school kids trying to look up your kilt. Sorry.)

Life was tough after l lost my gig at the peach-pit,so Flinders street a go-go!

Take my coins and donate them to Rangers...
We need the SPL to be a two side comp again and not just stand outs Celtic and hacks the rest

Well, don't overdose out there Struggs ! If there's one thing I hate it's being delayed as I'm trying to get to my train by having to step over paramedics trying to revive junkies.

Ahhh yes. The SPL when it was a 2 team comp. You're right. They were the days. Rangers and Hearts had some wonderful battles back then.

Rangers and Hearts...dont often hear of the two in one breath anymore

Nobody should be judged on one AFL match (for premiership points ... forget the wizzie cup and practise matches).
Let's have another look at Luke after he plays 4 or 5 games with a bit of game time.
He needs all the support he can get with the current form of the team.

Spot on Hungry. To bag a kid after one game is unbelievable. Just goes to show a hell of a lot of fans don't know the first thing about it.

I'll bet they are the same people who called Coughlan a dud in his first few games.

give the kid a go.fair dinkum the way we are playing even james hird would struggle.
no 1%,ers,no run,no confidence.and thats from the so called senior players.

Gee this blokes going well isn't he? Even his sponsors are calling him a dud.
I wonder if Luke ever reads this site (since a number of posters have put there hard earned money in sponsoring him, *smile* and Jackson). I'm sure he would apprecaite the support of his sponsors!!!

Rosy - Not sure it's appropriate that PRE sponsors players in future. This site is 90% negative posts (as you would expect when the side is performing poorly).

None of Luke's sponsors are calling him a dud Boss. The people doing the bagging aren't the ones who contributed to the sponsorship.

I don't know if it's appropriate to sponsor a player or not. I was asked to organise it and it was up to the people to decide if it was worthwhile or not.

I will write to Luke and Jay and Daniel and explain what PRE is and wish them the best from their sponsors and I'll also explain that the majority of people expressing opinions aren't involved in the sponsorship.

As to my original question, I kinda wish I hadn't asked now, ha.

Amazing how many expert opinions are formed on the basis of ONE game, and a game where the whole team was very ordinary at that.

Stick it up em Luke. Here's to a long and successful career at Tigerland. :)
