Fair enough there are some top shelf opponents coming up. Likely to get Harry O or Goldsack this week.
All our players will need to step up over the next 3 games.

Mcguane is an awkward matchup. Hope he keeps it up.

Maxwell would have to go to Luke i reckon. Harry O in doubt, which is good. The bloke is actually untacklable. He seems to have a force field. Im stoked Jolly is out. Hudson Smudson.

Luke making quite a few of us look foolish atm.

All he's done is prove how right people were to bemoan his being picked to play in the backline. He was a truly awful defender, and is proving (so far) to be a very good third tall forward.

He has so far shown nothing to suggest he would be any good as a defender. But he has done absolutely everything right as a forward.

If the coach ever moves him back we will see a return of the clanger ridden, chaos ball, random kicking goof machine that he has always been back there. His skillset is uniquely adept for what we're asking him to do at the moment, and he's performing very well (albeit against some very average defenders).

I certainly would hate to see him line up in the backline as much as ever, but its great for him, and for us, and for the club that he's doing so well forward. If he manages to do the same against the top line clubs then we may have found a weapon that can be very useful if utilised correctly.

certainly a welcome change from making himself look foolish.

:hihi no matter how well he's performing now he will always be prone to McCalamity moments, let's just hope it doesn't occur at a critical moment.

It’s a very good chance, very good, that McGuane’s going to have a disastrous moment in the next few weeks that is going to see this thread swing 180 degrees back to more what it’s been like for the last three years.

But I don’t care, last year I saw McGuane’s fight back in Coburg from almost certain delisting by playing hard, physical football. I’ve really enjoyed his unlikely career renaissance and I love his approach to football.

Couldn't have put it better Kurtzy.

Needs to perform against quality teams before that happens Tooheys. Starting this week.
There's the rub though Leysy. What do we rate as perform?
Do we count his performance purely on goals scored against far higher rated opponents or his overall game effort of pack breaking, harassing of defenders, creating and providing opportunities for teammates.
How do we rate his performance if the team gets smashed n not only is the ball rarely in our forward line but the delivery is poor or our forwards end up clustered and competing for the same limited opportunity.

We could start with conversion rate, clangers, goals, goal assists and frees against.

Even on the weekend, he chased a ball near the boundary and accidently kicked it out on the full and another one I swear the ball bounced up and hit him in the beak.

At least his 3 stooges moments aren't happening 20 metres out from the opposition goal, directly in front any more.

Take your point but I'm pretty sure that ball bounced before it went over the line. Was a poor umpiring decision (one of many).

That wouldn't surprise me. Although I remember at the time saying to my mate...."it could only happen to *smile*".

Am loving his transformation.

In the backline, its a Shoenmakers moment. In the forward line it a Richo moment. I think a poster already made this point more eloquantly (damn it, IS there a spell check?)
