List Management 2023

Who signed this off
Clearly the club was blindsided to such a drop. Would have assumed if all 3 played that many games they'd be contributors to a side deep in September and thus would be required for another year minimum...

Who signed this off lol Graham, Macca and Pickett triggers should pack there bags huge mistake we have made. Pickett I'll give him some slack because of off field, but the other 2 time to move on. Livingston has made some huge blunders and Blair.
Doesn't mean they won't be traded, just that they hit triggers.

As it stands with Trent, Jack, Robbie having retired, and Bradtke delisted we have 4 spots available.

Mansell, Biggie, Hugo and old Mate are still uncontracted. Biggie had a disappointing season after beginning well, one more year perhaps.
One of Nigel or Hugo might go. Don't know about old Mate, a wasted year with his injuries. The recent signing of OHB might mean his card has been marked.

Always had a soft spot for Biggie, but wouldn't shed too many tears if all of the above were elsewhere in 2024 *as long as they can be replaced by higher-quality players*

We replaced Tarrant and Castagna with Coulthard and Trezise, so I think at this stage we have 3 spots.
We can only replace Mate with another cat b rookie so he doesn't really count.

Biggie was consistently overlooked for Miller which speaks volumes about where he’s at.

From what I saw of him in the VFL, he lacks the physicality required. With a few exceptions, he was out-bustled (and generally outplayed) by VFL journeyman on a weekly basis.

Robbie retired after the draft, we were able to pick up Trezise by putting Smith on the inactive list.

Correct, but Smith will be back on the list for next season so Tarrants spot has already been taken on the list.

Yes but we were never deep in September, not even close.
The fact that these three actually triggered extensions suggests someone fell asleep at the wheel.
All had poor seasons and while Pickett had his off ground issues setting him apart, the other two had no such excuses.

Shouldn't it be in there contract anyway they were gifted games at times this year. The fact is we need to make hard calls and I have my doubts.

I call it poor management especially with Graham and Macca. They have been in decline for how long let's not live in the past.

I believe the extensions were included within their contract clause prior to this current season hence the expectations before mentioned. I agree with you by the way, poor decisions. All 3 could end up reserves players next year if the new coach goes down the youth path which is quite possible IMO.

Doesn't mean they have to be played in the ones. We have plenty of kids coming thru but a few duel premiership players as back up depth could be handy. I'm sure they were told in their exit meeting or will be by the in coming coach they may have to play in the two's. It will make it a competitive off season.

Tooth, that makes much more sense. I think you must be right.

One player I'd like us to consider is Buku Khamis from the Bulldogs. Can't get a game there and is an athletic 191cm forward. Watched him play the VFL game at Punt Road earlier this year and is a talent.

Would cost next to nothing and worth a punt. Don't mind the idea of surrounding Lynch with Bauer and a player like Khamis as athletic, mid size forwards who can jump.

like your thinking, but collingwood has their claws in this.

The new coach needs to be ruthless and move on those past their sell-by date. If we want success we cannot afford sentiment on past glories.

It's a tough one.
No quick fix.
Look at recent winners.
No one is challenging again. Truly challenging.

(I am not including Melb/Gee who are still in window.
Although Arcare Cats maybe dropping off now.
Maybe Dees too following back to back tennis exits.)

2020, 19, 17 us.
2018 Wet coke
2016 Bull
2015, 14, 13 Hawk
2012 Syd

It's now a matter of who is the Coach?
What support staff will they enlist?
How quick can they turn it around?
Which list cloggers can be cut loose?
Can they make Richmond a destination club again?

In quite a few games this year we were basically uncompetitive.
Cannon fodder.
The new Coach will need to roll the sleeves up and get dirty.
