Also on the Salmon comparison, he played back when backmen stood on your toes, punched your kidneys, and tried to break your hands/ arms, head, with punches in marking contests. tried to land on you,etc etc. Also only 1 central ump. Beanie wouldn't have to worry about any of that crap.
Point of order: two umps.

It's great Liam has almost a cult following already. An exiting prospect. Can't wait to see him play. He's young and green so will probably have his ups and downs. I hope he's always as well supported by our supporters.

He's young and green
And loves his beanz
When he eats some more
He is a Tiger machine.

Beanie...

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Off topic but gee did Elton look impressive in the coburg highlights on the clubs website

His second goal especially. Took a mark about 80 out, passed off to O'Hanlon then sprinted back to take a pack mark 35-40 out.

First goal also he gave it to his opponent after taking a strong mark on the lead

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Is PRE having an "ooh aah Marty McGrath" moment?

Who was it that intercepted in the middle and squeezed a left foot kick to Beinz for his second?

Knights.

Beanie and Rocket Man both look good. Bit of size on the latter now, and improved kicking. Both can take a catch.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Nice. :spin

He's not that skinny, I mean he's skinny, but I reckon if he keeps playing well, he could handle a game or 2 in the fwd pocket this year. 5-8kg and he'd definately be fine for the fwd pocket. Lets see if he can keep it up. Exciting, great poise

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Don't build him too big too quickly.
Players tend to get injured when packing on too much size quickly.

I hate hype machines. I'm trying to look at this logically and empirically.

Is mcbean a 202cm (and growing) kid with sticky hands? Check.

Is mcbean a 202cm (and growing) kid with a hunger to get dirty? Check.

Is mcbean a 202cm (and growing) kid who's shown he can dance like Fred astaire? Check.

Is mcbean a 202cm (and growing) kid who's shown elite kicking accuracy? Check.

Is mcbean a 202cm (and growing) kid who wants to support, inspire and lift his team mates? Check.

These are eternal attributes : displayed once, you know they can be replicated. The only thing that will prevent these attributes being replicated on a frequent basis is physical injury.

The fact he checked all these boxes in his first game representing the RFC list is the stuff of dreams for coaches and recruiters.
Last time I had similar thoughts about a young player was Anzac Day at Box Hill, players name was Jaaack.
Hardly get to watch the boys playing for Coburg, after all the hype I've been reading about the Beanie n other youngsters I'll be glued to the set on sat arvo.
Hope you lot aren't just bullshitting a loyal tiger tragic into dreams of future glory.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

I certainly think there's too much hype.

What he did was great, but seriously he is a skinny tall who is going to be inconsistent at the beginning of his career. I hope he proves me wrong and backs it up, but IMO he's just as likely to get 2 kicks this week as he is to put in another 4 goal performance.

Re: mcbean -- birth of a legend

Lean McBean !!! Looks very wiry and springy. does he really need to put on that much weight? how much does dustin fletcher weigh? cat like agility for a big man. had to re-watch the goose step, baulk and snap on on the left ten times over. I'm excited.
