That Connors kid goes alright. Worth a rookie spot?
yep, apparently he's leanrt his lesson, he's matured and he'd love another go at the AFL......

Good question. Natural selection will come into play at some point, which was always the plan, I guess. Draft/trade for too many talls and cut the runt from the litter.

Doesn't seem up to it.
Delist, next.

Liam whilst he has undoubted talent he is very light on and until this changes I cannot see him playing. Whilst he has come along again this season that NAB cup game he played he looked very slight and was too easily knocked off the ball maybe a freak winger role ?

I wish he hadn't played that NAB game.

I've heard too many people on here refer to that game when gauging Liam's ability. He'd just come off a severe ankle injury, and was not only working into his confidence with that leg, but also into match conditioning. He'd had virtually no pre-season, and no match practice. At 204 cm, and 20 years of age, there's no way he's going to compete under those conditions. Disregard that game, and if it's the only time you've seen McBean, ignore it.

He has since (and prior to) shown an ability to compete with men, and then some, picking up bags of 4, 5 and 6 goals regularly. His lack of bulk does not mean he can't be a valuable contributor at AFL level, as his worth is in his vision, skill, and smarts.

Sure, he will be a more powerful player when he puts on another 10 kg, but he doesn't need that in order to play.

Obviously, he isn't gonna play this year. But I see no reason he can't line up round one next year, even if he doesn't have a monster build yet.

Finally, some sense from you Coburg.

Great post, agreed.

Dunno why people are still basing their opinions on non appearance in the seniors.

from the bits I have seen of him at VFL, his biggest deficiency is his inability to halve contests he doesnt win. to often balls that are kicked to him head back out of the forward line as quickly as they come in.
obviously he wins he share, he has a good set of hands, uses his body well and is clean when the ball hits the ground. but he needs to spoil chase, tackle and hold the ball in when he doesnt win it.

also his form this year wasnt as good as last year. he kicked 37. about 15 of these came in 3 weeks so for the rest of the season he averaged less than 2 a game. this is probably in a big part due to his interrupted preseason. but calls for him to play ones have been a bit premature i think.

a big preseason, a few bags of 10 early in the year for the twos and then he will be ready to be unleashed.

It seems the rules for Beanie are different to those for Griff, Vickery, Astbury, Elton or even Jack!

Watched him for the first time on the VFL feed last week. The love didn't jump out and grab me.
