Juniors to watch - 2012

If Martin nominates, would we chase the deal with GWS? Would cost us our first pick and he wouldn't play until 2014. Could we afford to wait that long for our first round pick given next year should be the year that our finals window should formally open?

I think it would cost more than that. Wouldn't suprise Melbourne got 1 of them and the Doggies the other. Or even GC again. :(

With all the talk of the top 2 being WA kids (Martin/Hogan) then surely Freo and WC will have a crack

Depends who they're willing to trade I suppose. Their 1st round draft picks this year won't be enough.

Emma Quale gives her opinion on the quality of this year's pool of juniors.

Absolute silk isn't he. Can pretty much do everything already just needs to add some meat to them bones.

I don't think he will have many problems adding some size. Love his athleticism.

Gus, what do you think of Tim Membery? Figured out who he reminds me of, Stewart Crameri.

He's shorter than Crameri isn't he, and not sure he has the pace. But he takes a nice grab on the lead... my suspision is he ends up on the good side as Aaron Edwards and on the low side as Ben McKinley

He could be a solid AFL player but I have some doubts on how he will transition. Good size and strength and OK mobility but just lacks something.

I have just finished watching the Championship games on TV. There are some quality midfield types running around this year: Whitfield, Toumpas, Vlastuin, O'Rourke, Wines, Kennedy, Mayes, Hrovat, Pongracic, Simpson, Garlett, they all look like AFL players.

These are exactly the sorts of players that we need. It would be wonderful if we could snag two to add to our growing midfield group.

Sounds like the write up of Jack Darling a couple of years ago.

I'd jump at Membrey if available with a third rounder.

Big difference between the two though and there was no way Darling would have slid to the 3rd round.
People had a question mark on Darlings application not his ability. I think it's exactly the other way around for Membrey.

Good ruckman. Best availavke this year. Will go top 10. But I'm always hesitant to use a top 10 pick on a ruck.

So you would have passed on Nic Nat or Kreuzer or at least hesitant in selecting them? Of course not.

Grundy is no Nic Nat or Kreuzer for that matter but I wouldn't hesitate on using an early pick on a ruckman if I thought he was clearly the best player.

What are peoples thoughts on Ben Kennedy from South Aust?

Only small in height but from what I have read about him is a very good inside midfielder who can also play as that small forward. He is similar to Devon Smith.

Ben Kennedy is better then Devon Smith. Much classier finisher and more of a run and carry type.

You don't have to be 187cm to be a outside player or a finisher.

Where do you see him going in the draft - top 10?

Looking at some of his stats at the Championships he knows how to find the footy and the goals. I think from memory he got 30 odd touches and 4 goals against Tassie.

I think between 8-20. As a first round pick I wouldn't be disappointed with him at all.
