Different mates. Most Geelong supporters I have spoken to aren't happy he is gone.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

He was All Australian as an under 18, went as a no 7 pick in the draft and from the Cats website his stats and his bio look pretty impressive. I can't really see why the Cats let him go so easily. Are we missing something?

and nobody wanted to take Motlop, opportunity arose to unload a non-core asset and they took it.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Caddy is already in RFC's best 22 and he hasn't even played a game for the Yellow and Black yet.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I like Caddy.
But by round 10 he could be my next Grigg

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

My mate who follows Geelong (all Geelong home games) thinks that Caddy suffered from Selwood. He told me that Caddy would go on the ball mainly when Selwood went to the bench as they liked to clear the ball in a similar manner. In basic terms he got in Selwoods way.

Hoping more than any (not near convinced) that he is the real deal with clearances so we can cause miss matches with Cotchin and Martin pushing forward.

Also he thinks we must be paying him north of $550,000 does this sound right?

More like 400k.

I tend to agree with your mate that Caddy suffered(position wise) by going to the cats. Caddy is a pure on baller who can kick the odd goal.
He played a lot more forward in recent times instead of being purely on the ball.
On the wage side of things he wouldn't have been even close to that much at the cats, so I'd be tipping around the $400-450k @ 4 years would be around the mark.

Its not all about clearances with Caddy, he also likes to tackle as does Prestia.
Unfortunately for us Hardwick doesn't understand the basics of applying pressure to the ball carrier via tackling.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

I have always thought that Caddy should be a better player than he is. He has all the tools and is a very impressive unit these days as well. Sometimes he is seriously good but he has tended to have underwhelming games. Maybe it is the Sellwood factor and he just needs to play in the guts

That's why I think a 2nd rounder is the right price for him. Good player but could be better and hopefully he is with us.

Think he suffered more from Dangerfield arriving. His stats were tracking ok until last year when he had to play much more forward than midfield.

i agree here, his 1 game in '15 when Selwood didn't play he got 37 disposals. also think he was the one who was pushed out of the centre when Dangerfield came along. with us, he allows Cotchin to spend more time outside the crash & bash in the middle.

Re: Welcome to Tigerland - Josh Caddy

Horses for courses ! Your delusional if you think Caddy won't help our midfield ..

Not sure Caddy would have been accepted trades from two different clubs and be on not much more than the average wage.

1.6 million 4 year deal

This is a very good deal for a player like Caddy, Bargain actually considering the TPP will increase and 400k will be about average salary

Fair value for what he's produced so far. No top 5 B&F finishes, nothing spectacular in finals. Only traded pick 24 in the draft. From Caddy's perspective he at least has security for the rest of his career. Not too many players outside of a club's best half dozen get 4 year deals.

Thats 1 way of looking at it but another is that he will be easily a top 10 player at our club and is entering his prime at 24 years of age
considering players like hampson, hunt, maric, grigg etc are on around the $300-$350k area Caddy is a decent get
