Jake Batchelor

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Lock him into our Back pocket position for good. He has excellent size, composure and skills. My wife thinks he looks 30 yrs old.

Batchelor Rance Grimes
Dea Post Newman
Deledio Martin Cotchin

Centre line to backs looks solid moving forward with Houli, Astbury and Connors rotating through.

Not convinced Connors will be there at all.
It's a bad year to miss the season with constant niggles isn't it uncle chop chop? Connors has the size and ability to play forward, back or wings so maybe there's still some value to be had, but..................................................?

reckon it will come down to his attitude on the training track. given its expected to be a poor draft, reckon he'll be safe as long as he's been putting in the hard yards and has the right attitude (something that I heard may have been an issue in the past)

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

second round draft picks are valuable and you don't just throw them out to get a mature aged gap filler ruckman or any player who'll have 2-3 years left at best. Hope we don't even consider throwing away our 2nd pick for Hamish, but unfortunately think we will.

Love his size

Noticed yesterday how big he has got in the arms. shoulders. Seems to have bulked up even since pre season, Good effort for a first year player to continue to build your body throughout the season.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Any more news on "The Single Man" ?

(that's what my mate and I call him...for obvious reasons ! ;D)

Hope it's not too serious.

It was strange seeing RFC defenders with "actual" biceps on Sunday:

Single Man, Rancid and even Matty Dea !!
Just need to beef up the stick insect Thursty now.

He was listed as 'Test' on the injury report. I guess that means he's a chance to play but presumably we would prefer not to risk him.

I don't know if it is just that he has forgone the long sleeves for short ones, but I think Thursty has put on a bit of size.

Hopefully he is eligible this week.

pay that.

Maybe a 'test'for him is an hour of speed-dating.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

Can someone tell me why we didn't sign him up with the other juniors ?

That's what it looked like, didn't seem to have popped it out and didn't have his arm in a sling when he came back up the race.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

How good is his composure under pressure? Amazing find by the recruiters. If we can keep Jake,Grimes and Astbury our future looks rosy indeed.

Re: Pick 30 - Jake Batchelor

I think this guy is a ripper . What I loved about his game on sunday was his run and carry a few times . That time late in the 2nd quarter when he waited for the right moment to release to Jack whilst running through the middle showed me he has a great footy awareness , plus is was a great kick .

The development of Batchelor and Dea on the HBF's is very important to us . It allows us to release Lids and Houli more often further up the ground and strengthens the midfield. I really like both these kids . Both are a really good size as well .

Its amazing that Batch was hardly mentioned in the draft discussions but he has looked like an AFL footballer from the beginning .
