Jack Ross

I know it’s a big call and I’m not saying he will ever be as good as Broders was, but he does have some of his characteristics and if he even gets close to Broders then we have a serious player on our hands

Young fella had the career staggers up a couple of times over his first few seasons, managed to work his way up to around 50 odd games through all the disruption and uncertainty. Gets a proper run of games in the seniors this year and all the little bits and pieces suddenly start to fall into their proper places and he's now playing consistent contributing footy.

He reminds me of Paul Broderick. Doesn’t get flustered, good vision, not the quickest but gets to the right places and is able to hit targets under pressure.
Na. Broderick's hands were second only to Greg Williams. He was a great handball exponent.

Ross has started to make important contributions though.

Just like he did, was showing till he got stepped on!

Great to see Jack getting a bit of love, his good form from the back end of last season has continued this season.

It’s taken five years but statistically, he’s finally back to the level he showed in his first three games.

Unlike some of his peers, he appears to have always had the backing of the match committee who have continually played him when many of us (me included tbh) would not have. Clearly, he has always been rated internally and that persistence is being rewarded.

Sounds like he has a pretty calm and mature head on his shoulders. Makes a point about not sooking it up when dropped and performing.

Very impressed.
Yep, great comments from Rossy, in fact, if you read between the lines, it sounds like another praise to Mini & co. I've gotta feeling there was more than what we all saw about Dimma leaving.

Great article and I have been posting for years that Ross is the hardest worker on the track, in the off-season and the pre-season and looks to get something out of every session.
Deserves everything that comes his way except the criticism on PRE

Is it only you who can criticise players C?;)

Ross did get dropped a couple of weeks ago. He said it himself he sometimes plays better with a chip on his shoulder.
If he doesn't play well Jack like all players will cop it on here.

Re crunch time and tight situations
"I think in the past we might have been a bit hectic and a lot of messages and mixed signals. But we're very calm now, our coaches are awesome with directing those messages straight to us and everyone's around it now”
Interesting comment We did use to go into our shells seem lost and try to hold onto leads instead of going all out to win

I think you missed the gist of my post which was to reiterate what I have been saying for years that Jack Ross is close to the hardest worker on his game in all my years' of track watching. I have wanted to tell Jack personally but never had the chance.
I am glad he has been given 12 games in a row and deserves reward for his hard work.

Interesting and has the makings of a leader, should be a better than handy player for us.

He always came across as a mature thinker and he would have known the pecking order included players like Dusty, Cotch, Prestia, Edwards, Lambert and others - it’s a credit to him that he has managed 50 games already.

He should start to really blossom from now onwards.

One thing I noticed was how they put on serious faces straight after celebrating Bakes' winning goal. They didn't carry on like in the past and quickly re-set their mind on what to do to hold a 1 point lead with 1 minute left.
