Jack Ross

He made good position in the forward line on the fat side of the ground when we were bringing the ball forward on 3-4 occasions and wasn’t rewarded. This kid has a great feel for the game. That’s a hard thing to teach.

Also noticed he hovered near the defensive goal square at times when we've historically been hurt by balls going over the pack.
Loved his game last night, looking confident and taking the game on.

No idea, buuut he just might be feeling the coaching staff believe in him... perhaps a bit more than he felt earlier in the season.

Without taking anything away from Ross, these are pretty basic requirements of the wing role. KMac and Marlion do both regularly.

Ross did what he was supposed to do for his first goal, but at least 4 of those 6 points belong to Bakes for making something out of nothing.

But thats why we play him on the wing. Cos he does what we want our wingers to do. Sweep deep in the back line, spread wide when we have the ball deep in the backline, block space when the other team has the ball between the arcs and provide a target in the open side of the field when we attacking from the flank.
Some teams like flashy wings like B Hill, but premiership teams like wingers who work. both ways.

To do both of the things you've highlighted here is much easier said than done.

We're talking Lambert, not Kmac.

Agree - he was good,

But youde expect a 50 game bloke on a wing to be good.

Its the reverse dusty effect on here. Hes an inverse whipping boy

Dusty gets 20 and gains 400m and sell him to Dimma at GC,

Jross gets 20 and gains 400m, and hes gonna win the JD medal

I love the positivity and i hope he plays 250 games,

But i see a very ordinary footballer who doesnt stand up to heat, be it a ground ball, 1:1, or a set shot.

He doesnt have a weapon; hes not quick, hes not particularly tough, hes not great over head, hes not a great kick, hes not a big moment player.

Hes adequate at those things, sometimes.

He definately could have played a role as 23 rd man in our great sides,

But i cant see him adding much while we are ordinary.

you've gone to the darkside.

Ezy's wandered way off the reservation on this one. Ross may not be elite in many areas except he's showing great composure, intellect, positioning, workrate, finishing now.

Just like with Dimma in 2016 I wavered in my faith but my faith was restored in Dimma in 2017 and lo, it is now restored in JRoss. Quality player who's now starting to repay us.

Surprised at some of the comments here. Easily one of our best last night. Turn the lights on guys, the future is bright with Ross

Agree and maybe the club needs to wake up and stop subbing/dropping him.

You realise elite,

Means 90th percentile?

Jross would be in the 2nds at Gold Coast.

Hes about as good as rory atkins, or jack bowes, or brayden fiorini

Who find themselves in the firsts as well

Youve all gone barking mad

I'd argue Ross's game last night was partially in response to his being dropped. Club knows what makes players tick, Ross has normally come back stronger after being dropped.

In the Top 3 players on the park last night. That puts him in the Top 10%. So by your own calculations, Ross was Elite last night.

Imagine how good he'll be after delisting?
