Ivan Soldo

Sounds like we’ll go with Soldo as Nanks partner, the big fella had really come on well, appears to be able to compete well against any ruckman in the ruck. Going to be interesting duo going into September

Ivy mk1 & Ivy mk2 soccer goals. Loved how Jack Riewoldt celebrated with them the same way years apart.
Smart play by the big fella. Great execution too.

Nankervis could play second ruck but unlikely. It will be Nankervis or Soldo with Chol or Balta for mine.
During the press conference after beating the pies Hardwick spoke of Nank possibly being that second ruck, so they are definitely considering it.p

Love Soldo's rise to non-whipping boy status. But I think people forget what Nancy gives us around the ground when he plays if some are suggesting Soldo v Nancy is a close thing.

Our mids can now play with Soldo in the team and work with him. With Nancy, our mids walk taller and play with reckless abandon knowing Nancy has got their back.

Ok we know Gawn is clearly a better ruckman than Soldo but a big wrap to Soldo for his effort and never die attitude. Gawn only won the hit outs to advantage against Soldo 8 to 5 but Soldo well and truly beat him in clearances 5 to 1 and pressure act points 44 to a paltry 18 despite 24% less game time. With that attitude he deserves to keep his spot.
Big Ivy has been good since given a chance to strut his stuff.
Do you have any data on his HOTA compared to Nank?
Ivy's abilty to negate Grundy and Gawn somewhat, and to win some clearances, has a made a strong case for Soldo and and Nank to be in our best 22.

How much difference will Nank's return make?

Richmond's premiership ruckman Toby Nankervis is primed to make his senior return against Carlton on Sunday after three VFL appearances.

Ivan Soldo has shouldered much of the ruck load in Nankervis' long, adductor-related absence, with support from Mabior Chol, who is also proving a threat up forward.

A much healthier Tigers team will greet 'Nank', who promises to strengthen further a line-up that is peaking at the right end of the year.

Richmond's ruckmen: R20, 2017 to R20, 2019

PLAYER RATING DISP. HITOUTS H.O.WIN% CLEAR. SCORE-INV. INT.MARKS INT.POSS

Toby Nankervis. 11.9 15.9 24.8 41.8% 3.2 4.1 1.4 2.9
Ivan Soldo . ... 10.2 8.6 25.5 43.2% 2.2 3.0 0.7 2.2
Mabior Chol ..... 11.0 9.1 8.0 27.1% 1.4 4.7 0.9 1.7

Soldo has been immense over this period. Nank likely to come in for him but couldn’t have asked any more from Ivan. There’s been something quite comforting having a genuine tap ruck in the side.

Couldn’t agree more. We have a genuine back up who in 18 months could easily be number one.

It’s the best our ruck stocks have been in 20 years.

I would leave Soldo in. Chol often avoids body contact going up at the centre bounces and often the opposition ruckman gets a clear tap and clearance.

Nank around the ground and resting forward would be a handful as he competes , can take a mark and kick a goal.
