Ivan Soldo

If he can learn to take an overhead mark he will be useful. He just cant seem to stick those pack marks where he gets both hands clean to the ball. If he could take those 3-4 marks a game he would get more game time

Only game I'd give him is against the Chokers to offset the Daddy Long Legs from the US of A.

Preuss is built like a block of flats & moves like one too.

Did anyone else hear the commentators saying they're wanting him to "take someone out" ::)
Took himself out in the magoos this weekend. Big Pruessy give himself some osteo sore wee wee, or something similar.

Still a bit off number one ruck duties is big Soldo, but from the limited game he had last night he got himself involved in some decent work. Big lump is very raw, but he's bloody honest n tries hard to help out.

Ivan has only played about 80 games of footy in his life, most players we draft have played over 150 games as juniors before they walk in our doors.

His improvement over the last two seasons has him in the mix this year at the age of 22.

He doesn't have to be elite he just has to perform his role.

Im not a massive fan of Soldo but agree that we do need him for backup for 2019 and maybe for 2020 as well until CCJ develops and is ready but long term he wont be a starting Ruckman for any duration unless we cop massive injuries to our Rucks

Personally i like Chol long term better than Soldo

Started playing footy when he was 16 , had played soccer his whole life previously as well as playing basketball

If he had started playing football when he was 16 how did we get him as a b class rookie when he was 18?

Yeah, started at 18 with Northern Knights in 2015.

Not sure how it works , he may have been playing school footy or simply not registered with a club , I don’t know, however the man himself told me how he started playing footy at age 16.

BTW great young fella, really good head on his shoulders

School footy may explain it as if he had registered with a club no b class rookie.

Mario recommended him and Richmond trialled him and then started him with northern knights immediately.
Probably the first ever player we’d employed who have NEVER played before.

Nanks had 7 hit-outs to advantage from 17 won. The rest of the team had 4 from 16 won. Not sure how many fo those attributed to Soldo. I don't think too many disagree that Soldo is our best option as tap ruckman against opposition beasts but he just doesn't do enough around the ground. You can't carry them particularly with our pressured game style. Saying that thought he was better this week but needs to show at VFL level he can consistently maintain that for a whole game.
By the time he learns the nuances of the game it will have passed him by.

Maybe club shouldve looked at someone like Tommy Nicholls from the Suns to help out Nank whilst CCJ gets time to get up to speed

Harsh. Improving all the time which means he's a quick learner and tries his guts out.
Chol on the other hand.........................................

Harsh. Thought Chol had some decent highlights from the weekend's vision. Looks to be clunking a few.

Always has clunked a few when he's attacking the ball on the lead and is unimpeded. In a pack, no idea. Put a finger on him and he's out of the contest.
That's what I meant about nuances
