Preuss was awful. Not the player to trade for.

Preuss is built like a block of flats & moves like one too.

Did anyone else hear the commentators saying they're wanting him to "take someone out" ::)

Soldo was ok. Reckon we play him when nank needs a rest

We don't really have any other options when Nanks rests atm. We're still a bit exposed if Nanks gets injured.

Soldo's tap work is good. His ball use has improved a lot. It's just his marking that needs to improve from here. If Nank has a long term injury I would have no qualms at Soldo being the number 1 ruck for an extended period.

I think we all forget that nank gets exposed by the top tier ruckman such as grundy, gawn, natanui and even ryder. All get him on height and agility. Opportunity is there for soldo to at least nullify the contest against these guys if he is good enough.

Just watching the replay, though Soldo didn’t do a lot around the ground, I thought his ruck work was top shelf

Soldo had 17 hit-outs 5 to advantage, Preuss had 21 hit-outs 6 to advantage. Pretty even.

I wasn’t comparing him to big Preusy as Derm keeps calling him tl, was more just some of his strong use of his big frame and some good hits to his mids with both hands .

If all the talks are fit come Rd 1 I think it will be Nank, with Balta relieving and a mix of Ruck/forward/bench for those 2 and Lynch playing forward

He used his body really well early on I thought in ruck contests but seemed to drop off later. Biggest issue is around the ground. You just can't have your ruck without a mark let alone a contested mark in today's game. Many of the best rucks today are really strong marks and targets and/or mobile on the ground. If you have neither there's no place for you at AFL level. I guess that was the most disappointing thing for me in his game. And against a guy who's only played 8 games himself, none in 2018.

Anyone know Soldo's hit outs to advantage when came on last night, though he was very good and got us back in the game.

Yeah, they wanted him to hurt someone. Who said that?

I dont mind the commentaters saying what we are all thinking.

Otherwise its the pc fun police brigade gone mad :police:

Though I definitely be going the Nank/Balta combo, thought the big fella showed some good signs again, he certainly doesn’t get moved out of the way in a ruck contest

Nanks had 7 hit-outs to advantage from 17 won. The rest of the team had 4 from 16 won. Not sure how many fo those attributed to Soldo. I don't think too many disagree that Soldo is our best option as tap ruckman against opposition beasts but he just doesn't do enough around the ground. You can't carry them particularly with our pressured game style. Saying that thought he was better this week but needs to show at VFL level he can consistently maintain that for a whole game.
