Mummy was pretty useless all up I thought. He is like that though, week to week he can look like a million-buck unstoppable colossus, and a lumbering useless Gorn.

Mummy also often just goes out to deliberately maim guys, have a look at him whenever he tackles blokes he just rams them into the ground or drops on them with his knees. He's been allowed to get away with it for years, if he was with any team other than the Swans or Giants he would have been reported plenty of times.
Imo he's just a thug.

I agree with this. His aim is always to injure.

I thought that the combination of Soldo and Nankervis worked him over physically a little bit. The even more surprising thing was that Lobb was more concerned with staying clean than anything else.

They should trade him. Neat skills. Big rep. Goodbye.

I wonder whether he has the capacity to improve his mobility with a couple of massive preseasons, (is he still growing into his body)? At the moment he is a bit of a lumberer like his cousin albeit being 4cm taller and 4kg heavier. Improved mobility is what I will be looking for next, (won't happen this year), he already seems to handle himself ok in ruck duels but will have to prove his worth around the ground in time. Time is what he has, at least 3 years i reckon if he shows gradual progression.
As a comparison Soldo is 204cm and 106kg and Mummy is 199cm and 108kg if we think he is going to be this crush and bash type.?

mobility to get to more contests around the ground, disposal will improve from there, happy with his tap development, will improve as he monsters others.
PERFECT PROJECT PLAYER..GOOD GET IVVY MARIC.

Nice obs. He's a great contested mark but he lacks some urgency when its not on his terms. The next "clean knees"?

Like I said in another thread. Think he will turn out ok. Not of All-Australian ruckman potential. But I reckon shows the potential that he will progress to the point that he holds his place in an AFL side on merit as a solid crash and bash type contributor - as opposed to at the moment, where he has been the beneficiary of a club with a shortage big men, so has been gifted a few games.

That's true PT but I think that will help his long term development.

Yep, def potential.

Have a look at the minutes played in last two games for Soldo. Against Brisbane just over half game time and last weekend just a third (which is probably due to the wet and we didn't need another tall).

Nankervis played around 3/4 of both games whereas previously he was running at 85/90 minutes. We were burning him up.

Plan is to use Soldo in ruck for the first quarter "saving" Nankervis for later and he takes most of the ruck time in the last when the heat is on.

Working OK

The other thing is that Nankervis and Soldo are our only rucks. If Nankervis is injured or suspended Soldo is the only back up (assuming Maric is cooked) and it makes sense to give him time in the top grade so he and the mids can get used to each other in the heat of battle.

Sharp post, TP.

It's a good point. Whilst raw stats show Soldo only had 4 disposals, if you double his game time to 78% (instead of 39%), it multiplies out to 8 disposals, 8 contested possessions, 6 tackles and 26 hitouts. Not setting the world on fire but respectable for a 21yo ruckman who has come from a long way back. He doesn't mind the hard stuff and uses his body well in ruck contests.

Got a feeling big Soldo won't be anything more than a park trundler over his career. But right now we desperately need him trundling to the max, just to ease the load off Nank a bit. Seems to be working o.k. for now n there's no other viable options available at the moment.

Reminds me of Trent Knobel
He is also about as good as Sam Jacobs was at 21 and he reminds me of a young Jacobs.

I am not saying he will be as good as Jacobs or that he will be as poor as Knobel but that at 21 it could go either way.

I wouldn't be playing him now, would rather have Elton in the team, but I am also not anywhere near writing him off

Phwoar. Rather have Soldo. He's giving as much around the ground as Elton did when he played but way more ruck support for Nank. Much younger n way less experienced at footy than Elton.

Agree, and especially with Griffo just about done & dusted, we should be preparing for finals with a 2nd tall and Elton should be the (lucky) one.

Elton can't ruck. Simple decision.
