Ivan Soldo

4th Game good game.
Speculative long term pick.

Asked to stand up a season or two earlier than expected.

Played a role.

Thanks big fella.

If nothing else, the selection of Soldo did provide Nankervis a big chopout and some much needed respite from the relentlessness of rucking the full match. I thought Nankervis had a bit more spark about his play today.

He did ok with what he did on the field today, but Brisbane is probably one of the few teams that we can carry him against. He just does not stay on the field long enough to be able to be played against the better teams. Players these days just need to stay on the field for at least 75% game time. He spent almost the entire last quarter on the pine (from what I saw at the ground, didn't notice him on field and number 47 seemed to be shown on the bench alone). 56% game time is just not sustainable.

Reckon he'll be back in the VFL next week, though his strength would have been good against Mummy, I'm not sure anyone other than Nank can really take that physicality that Mummy will bring.

Correct mate.

Just not ready. Needs go abck to reserves and continue honing his craft and fitness.

Good in the ruck. His around the ground work is a worry, particularly his contest work in the backline. He had no idea what to do when Schache took that big mark.

Look how impactful Nank was because he finally got a chop out and wasn't gassed half the game. I don't mind Soldo staying in until Griffiths is fit. If not, someone like an Elton.

Agreed, and I think Jack was better and more effective, because he had some tall support in the forward line.

problem is Elton is pretty hopeless in the ruck. he wont spend much more time there than Grigg etc.
i would give Soldo another game, mainly to give Nank a bit of a rest. i reckon our clearance dominance had a bit to do with Soldo too.

1 more game for Soldo then a couple to Elton (or Moore-doubtful tho)- then Griff back a couple of weeks before the finals.

Soldo over Elton every day of the week. Side is so much more balanced with the extra ruckman/forward in the side.

Yeah agreed. Unlike others I think Soldo is developing pretty well.

Some great taps and clearance work on the weekend.

Bolton and Stengel have been getting only about 50% game time the times they've played. If anyone should be getting 50% game time, I'd rather it be soldo.

yep. Nanak - Soldo until Griff is ready (as long as he has no more setbacks).

Look structurally he helped but against better opposition they will work him over.

Some efforts were comical at times and non competitive. Thought he had some mongrel in him.

He gave Nank a chop out which was the main thing as that was Nanks best game for a few weeks. He was struggling.

Against Mummy do we go with him again? May have to as others have said until hopefully Griff is ready. We have no one else.

He did do some good things. Only his 3 rd game .

Still very much a work in progress.

Would omit him for Elton, who, whilst also not the long term answer provides a more consistent contest.
