Nankervis rucked all on his own against Adelaide. Hampson had Vickery to back him up. I thought Hampson actually had quite a good game for his 11 disposals, 6 contested, 2 clearances, 2 1%ers, 2 tackles and 34 hitouts. But whilst beaten, 22yo Nankervis playing all day against a taller opponent had 14 disposals, 10 contested, 5 clearances, 7 1%ers , 7 tackles and 38 hitouts. Hampson had a really good day marking wise with 4 contested marks, but let's be honest that's not a norm for Hampson, 5 games around that he averaged less than 1 per game. Jacobs played a blinder against Nankervis, he can do that, but it didn't help to have ZERO ruckman support particularly for someone so young and relatively inexperienced.

Harsh to knock Hampson now that he's injured but I am personally glad Nankervis's opportunity opened up as he, to me, is clearly a better option than Hampson for now and for our long-term future. I fear he wouldn't have been given this opportunity to gain such valuable experience if Hampson was fit and fighting.

As already stated, many valid points. Not sure if Vickery was much help in the ruck that game, since Hammer had to play 100% TOG? Not sure Grigg would have been much worse for Nank in '17 game. Jacobs gained more Ds too in '16, but, amusingly, had more clangers than Hampson I think. I think H's marking was always erratic due to a vision problem which has never been fully overcome. Yes, have been saying for quite a while that Nank will lack support, with Griffiths out especially. But Jacobs as the older, highly experienced ruck schooled him in a way he certainly couldn't do to Hampson.

They are different types. Overall, Nank is definitely a more complete footballer but I believe Hampson may have been very useful in some games this year, supporting Nankervis or opposing Boyd last week who took over after Q1 as Soldo tired. He would have knocked Boyd around.

Anyway, we may never see N & H play in tandem now. Nank still young and can only improve, but will always give away those few centimetres to the real giant rucks. But as long as Soldo and Elton can consolidate their progress from that match I'll be happy.

Does soldo get another game this week?

I don't like Nanks chances against Sandi in the ruck. Soldo is taller at least, might be slightly more effective in negating him.

Soldo needs another 2 or 3 games. Then back down to work on stuff.

I wouldn't mind him playing this week and Elton having a week in the 2s just to give him another game. We can't play him and Nank ongoing though.

Nancy at 22 won't last the season. And we need him for September. We have to find a way

Not sure where you get this info from. My stats show he played 82% game time against Adelaide in 2016.

He took a couple of marks forward earlier in the game
Why wasn't Soldo used in the last out of the goal square instead of having Jack as our only tall forward?

Because we can't develop junior footballers let alone kids that have taken up the game 4 days ago.
Won't last

I reckon he's progressing OK. Most rucks show very little until 23-24yo. Keep giving him games ahead of Elton that's for sure.

Good question, was very quiet at times, I even forgot he was playing in the last. 'What ever happened to that Soldo bloke?.....'

He is a non event when the ball hits the ground. Elton provides more unfortunately and that's saying something. This is pure list management negligence thanks to Dud richardson and blair hardly

No way Elton has provided more. Soldo only had 47% game time (less than a half) and had 5 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 2 contested possies, a contested mark and a clearance. Compare that to Elton's last game with 71% game time. Something there to work with.

This^

The focus needs to be put on our list management team.

Not one decent young tall on our list.

A joke. Shows how bad we are risking a basketball player as 2nd ruck. Tallest muppet arms since the Fiora era.

Can't expect much from a bloke who has been playing the game for 2 years.

The fault lies with the morons who left us reliant on Ben Griffiths as the sole second fwd option for 2017.

Yep, Griff gets injured again, just like every other year n we have a choice between Soldo n Elton for CHF / back up ruck. Bloody ridiculous.

Too right tobes
Professional list management team, my arse.
They'd get an A+ as the LIst Mis-management team.
